EDD PFL Application Pending for Weeks - How to Speed Up Process?

Has anyone else been waiting forever for their paid family leave to come through? I applied weeks ago and still nothing. My application is just sitting there "pending" and I'm starting to freak out. Rent is due and I'm running out of options. Anyone know how long this usually takes or what I can do to speed things up? I've tried calling but can never get through to a real person. Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you considered taking out a short-term loan to cover rent while you wait? It's not ideal, but it might help in a pinch.

I've thought about it, but I'm worried about getting into more debt. It's definitely a last resort option.

Be careful with loans, the interest rates can be brutal. Maybe talk to your landlord about a payment plan instead?

Agreed, loans can be risky, especially with high interest. Exploring all other options first is a good call.

This might sound weird, but have you tried reaching out on Twitter? Sometimes publicly calling them out gets results. Worth a shot! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Social media can be surprisingly effective for getting attention from large organizations. It's worth a try!

Here's what you need to do to get your application moving: 1. Document everything: Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. 2. Gather all necessary paperwork: Make sure you have all required documents ready to go. 3. Be persistent: Call every day if you have to. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. 4. Reach out to your local representative: They can often help expedite the process. 5. Check for any errors: Review your application for mistakes that could be holding things up. 6. Consider legal aid: If all else fails, there are organizations that provide free legal assistance for these situations. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but don't give up. Your benefits are your right!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😑

I actually tried Claimyr out of desperation and it worked for me too. It's not the ideal solution, but when you need to get things done, it can really save time.

I think it's important to weigh the costs and see if it's worth it for you. Sometimes the peace of mind is worth the cost.

Is anyone else low key jealous of countries with functioning social systems? Like, imagine applying for benefits and actually getting them in a timely manner. Wild concept, I know. πŸ€”

For real tho. My cousin in Canada got her maternity leave sorted in like a week. Meanwhile, we're out here begging for crumbs. 😭

While waiting for your paid family leave to be processed, it might be worth considering using a service like Claimyr, which some users here have vouched for. They provide a calling tool that can help get through to an actual person at the government office. However, it's important to weigh the cost of $20 and see if it fits within your current budget. As with any service, there are pros and cons, so consider all possible options. Ultimately, persistence and documentation can aid your case. Best of luck!

Sounds like Claimyr could be a practical solution for some, especially if it saves time and stress. Weighing the cost-benefit is crucial.

Hang in there, OP! I know it feels hopeless, but your benefits will come through eventually. In the meantime, don't be afraid to lean on your support system. We're all in this together. ❀️

Pro tip: When you finally get through to someone, ask for a supervisor right away. They usually have more authority to push things through.

Yes, this can definitely help! Managers typically have more power to make things happen.

Ugh, the waiting game is the worst! 😫 I was in the same boat a few months ago. It took about 6 weeks for mine to get approved. Hang in there!

It's true. Sometimes being a bit of a squeaky wheel can really help. They may get tired of you calling so often and expedite your case just to get you off their backs.

Have you checked if you qualify for any emergency assistance programs in your area? Some cities have rent relief funds available.

-

Kolton Murphy

I hadn't thought of that. Do you know where I can find info on these programs?

Try calling 211 or check your city's website. They usually have resources listed for situations like this.

I feel ya, buddy. Been there, done that. The system is so backed up right now, it's ridiculous. Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under the department's butt.
