PFL Application Status: No Response After 2 Weeks - What to Do?
I filed for paid family leave a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting worried because I need the money soon. What should I do to check on my application or speed things up? Any advice would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve paid family leave application delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdJSqDIDuRU

Ugh, I feel you. The system is so slow rn. I waited like a month before I heard anything back. My advice? Keep calling them every day until you get through. It's annoying but it works.

•Calling everyday sounds exhausting. Is there really no other way to check the status?

•Trust me, I know it sucks. But its the only way I got answers. No pain no gain 🤷♂️

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your online account daily for updates 2. Call the PFL office first thing in the morning (like 7:59 AM) 3. Have all your docs ready (medical certification, etc) 4. If you can't get through, try calling right before they close 5. Be persistent and polite I know it's frustrating, but hang in there. The squeaky wheel gets the grease in these situations. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls/attempts. It might come in handy later.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•20 bucks to skip the hold time? Sign me up! 🙌

•Idk man, paying to talk to a government agency feels wrong. Shouldn't this be free?

•I hear ya, but time is money. I'd rather pay $20 than waste a whole day on hold 🤷♀️

have you tried faxing your documents? sometimes that gets faster results than waiting for them to process online submissions

Pro tip: if you cant get thru on the main line, try calling your local assemblymember's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push things along.

•Wow, I never thought of that. Do you just look up your local assemblymember online?

•Yep! Just google '[your area] assemblymember' and you should find their contact info. Good luck!

Anyone else notice that they seem to process apps faster if you check the 'dire need' box? Might be worth a shot if you're really in a bind.

•Preach 🙌 It's 2023, why does everything still run like it's 1995?

Same thing happened to me last year! The waiting is the worst part. Here's what worked for me: I called right at 8am when they opened (be ready to dial exactly at 8:00), had my SSN and confirmation number ready, and was super polite to whoever answered. Also check your online portal daily - sometimes the status updates there before they send any notifications. Don't give up! The money will come through eventually, just takes way longer than it should 😤

•Thanks for the detailed tips! The 8am calling strategy sounds like a solid plan. Quick question - when you check the online portal, is there a specific section where status updates show up first? I've been checking but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place 🤔

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now - filed 3 weeks ago and still radio silence! It's so stressful when you're counting on that money. From reading all these responses, it sounds like the early morning calling strategy is key. I'm definitely going to try the 8am sharp approach tomorrow. Also thinking about reaching out to my assemblymember's office like Aisha suggested - that's brilliant advice I never would have thought of! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, at least now I know I'm not alone in this mess 😅

•I'm in the exact same situation! Filed almost 3 weeks ago and nothing. It's so frustrating when you're depending on this income. I've been hesitant to call because I know the wait times are brutal, but after reading everyone's advice here I'm convinced that's the only way. Going to set my alarm for 7:55am tomorrow and try the early morning strategy. The assemblymember tip is genius too - never occurred to me that they might have direct lines to EDD. Thanks for posting this, it's oddly comforting to know we're all struggling with the same broken system together 🤝
