PFL Application Status Limbo - No Response After 5 Weeks. What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out the status of my paid family leave application. I submitted it online a while ago, but I haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else been in this situation? How long did it take for you to get a response? I'm getting worried because I really need this leave approved soon.

I found a way to solve paid family leave application delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3cghbZtyF8

I was in the same boat a few months ago. It took about 4 weeks for me to hear back about my application. Have you tried checking the online portal for updates? Sometimes they update the status there before sending out any notifications.

ā¢Thanks for the tip! I've been checking the portal every day, but it still says 'pending'. It's been almost 5 weeks now. I'm starting to get really anxious about it.

ā¢5 weeks?! That's ridiculous. The system is so broken. I had to wait 7 weeks for mine. It's like they want us to suffer or something š

ā¢Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Have you tried calling them? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? I'm skeptical about paying for something like that.

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me so much time and frustration. I was able to talk to a real person within an hour instead of spending days trying to get through.

ā¢I've used it too! Totally worth the $20 imo. Beats wasting hours on hold or getting disconnected constantly.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with paid family leave: ⢠Applications typically take 2-6 weeks to process ⢠Make sure you've submitted ALL required documentation ⢠Double-check that your employer has submitted their portion ⢠If it's been more than 6 weeks, definitely try to contact them ⢠Keep a record of all your attempts to contact them ⢠Sometimes they need additional info but don't tell you, so it's worth calling Hope this helps! The waiting game sucks, but hang in there.

ā¢Thank you so much for this detailed info! I'll double-check everything. I think I might have to bite the bullet and try calling them.

Ugh, the paid family leave system is such a joke. I swear they make it complicated on purpose. Good luck, OP. You're gonna need it š

ā¢For real tho. It's like they forget we're dealing with family emergencies and don't have time for their bureaucratic bs š¤¬

ā¢Come on, guys. It's not that bad. At least we have the option for paid leave. Some states don't even offer it.

ā¢@profile11 found the government employee lol š jk but srsly, just bc other places have it worse doesn't mean we can't criticize a flawed system

Quick question - did you get a confirmation email when you submitted your application? If not, it's possible it didn't go through properly.

ā¢Oh shoot, I can't remember if I did or not. I'll have to check my email. Thanks for bringing that up!

Not to freak you out, but my friend's application got lost in the system somehow. She had to resubmit after waiting for like 2 months. Make sure you follow up if you don't hear anything soon!

I'm going through the same thing right now! My application has been pending for 6 weeks and I'm getting really stressed about it. I tried calling the main number but kept getting disconnected after being on hold for hours. Has anyone had luck with contacting them through their website's messaging system? I'm wondering if that might be faster than trying to call. Also, @b83406405c6c have you checked if your employer submitted their portion yet? Sometimes that's what holds things up.

ā¢Hey @7206d060bae1, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too! 6 weeks is absolutely ridiculous. I haven't tried the website messaging system yet - that's a great idea! I'll definitely give that a shot since calling seems to be such a nightmare for everyone. And thanks for the reminder about the employer portion - I actually haven't checked on that yet. I just assumed they would have done their part, but you're right, that could totally be what's holding everything up. I'm going to contact HR tomorrow to make sure they submitted everything. This whole process is so stressful when you really need the leave! š©
