PFL Application Submitted in November - No Updates from EDD. What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my Paid Family Leave application. I submitted it back in November and it's been radio silence ever since. No mail, no updates, nada. Anyone else dealing with this? It's been months and I'm starting to get worried. Any advice on how to follow up or what I should do next?

I found a way to solve long PFL application wait times, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGebMOG9BIo

Ugh, I feel your pain! The EDD is such a mess rn. I waited 3 months for my PFL app to be processed. Have you tried calling them? Fair warning tho, it's like trying to win the lottery getting through 🙄

•I've tried calling a few times but always get the 'we're too busy' message. It's so frustrating! How did you finally get through?

•Honestly? I just kept calling. Like, ALL day. It took me two full days of non-stop dialing before I got through. It's ridiculous but sometimes that's what it takes 🤷♀️

•Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I've had better luck getting through first thing in the morning.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. It actually worked for me! Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did you have to wait once they started calling?

•It took about an hour and a half, but I just went about my day and they called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than being stuck to my phone all day!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update stuff there before sending mail. Also, double-check your spam folder just in case!

Bruh, the EDD is a joke 🤡 I've been waiting on my disability claim for like 6 months now. Good luck getting any info from them lmao

•6 months?! That's insane! Have you tried contacting your local representative? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up.

•Nah, I haven't. Didn't even know that was an option. Might give it a shot tho, thx for the tip! 👍

Here's what I'd recommend based on my experience with PFL: 1. Keep calling. It sucks, but persistence pays off. 2. Check your online account daily for updates. 3. Send a follow-up through the online portal if possible. 4. Consider reaching out to your local assembly member or state senator. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 5. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 6. If you're really desperate, that paid calling service someone mentioned might be worth a shot. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: make sure you have all your docs in order before you call. They always seem to ask for something you don't have ready 🙄

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it difficult on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits.

•It's a feature, not a bug. They're hoping people will just give up.

Hey OP, just curious - did you get any kind of confirmation when you submitted your application? Might be worth double-checking that it actually went through.

•Good question! I did get an email confirmation, so I know they received it. That's part of why I'm so confused about the lack of follow-up.
