PFL claim stuck in limbo for 3+ weeks - no response from EDD. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I submitted my Paid Family Leave claim over 3 weeks ago and haven't heard a peep from them. I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? Any tips on how to follow up or get some info on the status of my claim? I'm thinking about sending an email, but I'm not sure if that's the best way to go about it. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve Paid Family Leave claim delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SzjQgekv7A

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Send a follow-up email ASAP. Be polite but firm. 2. Call their customer service line (be prepared to wait on hold forever) 3. Check your online account for any updates or messages 4. If all else fails, contact your local representative's office. They can sometimes help push things along. Hang in there! The system is frustratingly slow, but you'll get through it eventually.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely try sending that email. Did you use any specific subject line or format that seemed to work well?

I used something like "Urgent: Follow-Up on Paid Family Leave Claim [Your Claim Number if you have it]" as the subject. Keep the email short and to the point. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add one thing: document EVERYTHING. Every call, email, letter. It might come in handy if things get messy.

3 weeks? That's nothing lol. I've been waiting for 2 months now. The system is completely broken 🤡

2 months?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to your local rep? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up.

Nah, I haven't tried that yet. Might give it a shot tho. At this point, I'm willing to try anything 🤷‍♂️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Is it legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imho.

$20 to actually talk to a human? That's highway robbery! The system is so broken we have to pay extra just to get basic service now? 😡

I get the frustration, but for me, it was worth it to finally get some answers. Time is money, ya know?

Pro tip: if you can, apply for PFL *before* you actually need it. I applied a month in advance and it made the whole process way smoother.

have you checked your spam folder? sometimes their emails end up there. also, make sure you filled out everything correctly on your application. one tiny mistake can delay the whole process.

Good call on the spam folder! Just checked and didn't see anything, but I'll keep an eye on it. Pretty sure I filled everything out right, but maybe I'll go back and double-check. Thanks!

Ugh, the PFL system is such a mess rn. My friend works for the state (not PFL dept) and says they're super understaffed and overwhelmed. Doesn't excuse the lack of communication tho. Hang in there OP!

This tracks with what I've been hearing too. Covid really messed things up and they're still playing catch-up. Still sucks for those of us waiting tho 😕

Anyone else notice that it seems to go faster if you have a corporate job vs. being self-employed or working for a small business? Or is that just my imagination?

Omg yes! I thought I was the only one who noticed this. My partner works for a big tech company and their claim went through in like a week. Meanwhile, I'm over here twiddling my thumbs... 🙄

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're still certifying for benefits while you wait for a response. I made the mistake of not doing that and it caused a whole other headache. Don't be like me! 😅

Oh wow, I didn't even think about that. Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to keep certifying.
