PFL benefits delay after submitting paperwork - no response in 2 weeks. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my paid family leave benefits. I sent in my paperwork about two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else experienced delays like this? I'm getting a bit worried since my last payment was on the 6th. Any advice on what I should do next?

•A month?! That's ridiculous. Have you tried calling them?

•Lol good luck with that. I've been trying to get through for weeks. Always busy or on hold forever 🤷♀️

•Same boat here. It's like they're purposely making it hard for us to get our benefits. So frustrating!

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

•Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's crazy. The system is so broken 😡

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get some answers. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I've learned from my experience with PFL: 1. Keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. 2. Follow up every week if you don't hear back. 3. If possible, fax your documents instead of mailing them. It's faster. 4. Check your online account regularly for updates. 5. If you call, try early in the morning or late afternoon. 6. Be prepared with all your info when you do get through. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. The system is a mess, but you'll get your benefits eventually.

I heard they're super backed up because of covid still. Might just need to wait it out 😕

•Covid excuse is getting old tbh. They need to hire more people or something

Pro tip: if you can, go to your local office in person. I know it's a pain, but I got my issue resolved in one day after weeks of no response online/phone.

•That's a great idea! Do you know if I need an appointment or can I just walk in?

Two weeks is definitely frustrating, but unfortunately pretty normal these days. I'm dealing with a similar situation - submitted my continuation forms 3 weeks ago and radio silence. What I've been doing is checking my EDD online account daily and documenting everything with dates. Also try calling the 1-877-238-4373 number first thing in the morning around 8am - that's when I've had the most luck getting through. Don't give up! Your benefits are coming, the system is just painfully slow right now.

•Thanks for the tip about calling at 8am! I've been trying random times during the day with no luck. Really appreciate you sharing your experience - it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one dealing with this mess. Going to start documenting everything like you suggested too. Hopefully we both get our benefits sorted out soon! 🤞

I'm in the exact same boat! Filed my PFL paperwork 3 weeks ago and haven't heard a peep from them. It's so stressful when you're counting on those benefits. I've been trying the phone number daily but keep getting the "call volume is too high" message. Really considering trying that in-person visit someone mentioned - might be worth the drive if it actually gets results. Hang in there Connor, sounds like we're all dealing with the same broken system right now.

•@Amina Diallo I feel your pain! The call "volume is too high message" is like a slap in the face when you really need help. I m'definitely going to try the in-person visit too - seems like that might be our best bet at this point. It s'crazy that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get the benefits we re'entitled to. Fingers crossed we both get some movement on our cases soon! 🙏
