PFL payment delayed beyond 14 days - EDD notice said it'd arrive by now, what to do?

Hey everyone, I'm having issues with my Paid Family Leave payment. I got a notice on September 19th saying I should receive payment within 14 days, but it's been longer than that and still nothing. Has anyone else experienced delays like this? What should I do when I call them? I'm getting worried because I really need this money.

I found a way to solve Paid Family Leave payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMB-32VJUXM

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been dealing with EDD for months now. Have you tried checking your account online? Sometimes the payment shows up there before it hits your bank account.

Yeah, I've been checking online every day. Still nothing 😞 It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call them first thing in the morning. Like, right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

Good idea! I've had luck calling right before lunch too. Seems like less people are calling then.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep...

I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. It actually worked for me! Saved me hours of frustration.

Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. They even have a money-back guarantee if you don't get through.

Here's what you need to do when you call: 1. Have all your docs ready, especially that Sept 19 notice 2. Ask specifically about the status of your claim and why there's a delay 3. Get the name of the person you're talking to 4. Ask for a ticket number or reference for the call 5. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor Don't let them brush you off. Be polite but firm. Good luck!

Thank you so much! This is really helpful. I'll definitely follow these steps.

Great advice! I'd add: take notes during the call. It's easy to forget details when you're stressed.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of EDD 🤡 where the rules are made up and the timelines don't matter

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They can sometimes help speed things up with EDD.

Gavin King

I didn't even know that was an option! How do I find my assembly member?

Just google '[your city] assembly member'. Their office should have a way to submit requests for help with state agencies.

Can confirm this works! My assemblyman's office got my issue resolved in like a week after months of nothing from EDD.

This. Don't give up, OP! The system is designed to wear you down, but stay persistent!

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when you initially filed for Paid Family Leave? Might be worth double-checking all your paperwork to make sure everything was filed correctly.

Gavin King

Yeah, I got a confirmation number and everything. That's why this delay is so confusing...

Hmm, that is weird. Definitely bring that up when you call. There might be a glitch in their system.

Not to freak you out, but watch out for identity theft. There's been a lot of fraud with EDD lately. Make sure when you call that all your info is correct in their system.

Oh no, I hadn't even thought of that! Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely check.
