FMLA pay delay - haven't received anything yet. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my FMLA pay. It's been a while since I took my leave and I still haven't received any money. Has anyone else experienced delays with their family medical leave payments? I'm starting to get worried and could really use some advice on what to do next.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. Have you checked with your HR department? Sometimes the delay is due to paperwork not being processed correctly on their end.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I'll def reach out to HR tomorrow and see if they can shed some light on the situation. Fingers crossed it's just a paperwork snafu! 🤞

•HR can be such a pain sometimes. Make sure you document all your conversations with them, just in case you need to escalate later.

•Good point about documenting everything! I learned that the hard way. Keep a paper trail of EVERYTHING.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but FMLA doesnt actually provide pay. It just protects your job. Are you sure you're not thinking of short-term disability or some other program?

•Oh shoot, you might be right. Maybe I'm confusing it with something else. Now I'm even more confused 😅

•This is a common mixup. Your employer might offer paid family leave as a benefit, or you might be eligible for state disability insurance (SDI) depending on where you live. Worth looking into!

Have you tried calling the benefits office directly? I know its a pain to get through, but I finally found a way to reach a real person. There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me from pulling my hair out listening to that awful hold music lol. The $20 was worth it to finally get answers.

•Woah, this could be a game-changer. How long did you have to wait after using the service?

•It took about 45 minutes total, but I was able to do other stuff while waiting for the callback. Way better than being stuck on hold myself!

Here's what you need to know about FMLA and getting paid: 1. FMLA itself is unpaid, but it protects your job for up to 12 weeks. 2. Some employers offer paid family leave as a benefit. Check your employee handbook or benefits package. 3. You might be eligible for short-term disability, which can provide partial pay. 4. Some states have their own paid family leave programs. 5. If you're taking leave for your own serious health condition, you might qualify for state disability insurance. First step: Talk to your HR department or benefits coordinator. They should be able to clarify what you're eligible for and help you with any necessary paperwork. If you're having trouble reaching someone, be persistent. Document all your attempts to contact them. If you're still not getting anywhere, consider reaching out to your state's labor department for guidance. Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they purposely make it complicated so people give up.

Have you checked your bank account recently? Sometimes the payment goes through but doesn't show up in your online portal right away. Happened to me and I spent days worrying for nothing!

•Good idea, I'll double check. Wouldn't that be a relief if it's already there! 🤞

I went through something similar a few months ago and it was such a headache! Turns out I was mixing up FMLA (which is unpaid job protection) with my state's Paid Family Leave program. Since you're dealing with California EDD, you might be thinking of California's PFL program, which does provide partial wage replacement. The key is figuring out which program you actually applied for and then tracking down the right department. I'd suggest checking your original paperwork to see exactly what you filed for - it made all the difference for me once I got that sorted out!

•This is super helpful! I think you're right - I might have been confusing the programs. Do you remember how long it took to get your PFL payments once you got everything straightened out? I'm worried I've lost weeks of processing time due to the confusion.
