EDD Family Leave Pay Form (DE2504RE) Delay - Any Tips to Speed Up Process?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my family leave pay form. I filed for it a while back and haven't heard anything. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did it take for you to get a response or your money? I'm getting worried because bills are piling up and I really need this pay to come through soon.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through this last year and it was a nightmare. It took me almost 2 months to get my first payment. The system is so backed up, its ridiculous. Have you tried calling them? That might help speed things up.

2 months?! That's insane. I've tried calling but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. Any tips for actually reaching a human?

0 coins

Honestly, I just kept calling over and over. It took me like 50 tries before I got through. Super frustrating, but persistence is key. Good luck!

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. That's how I finally got through after weeks of trying!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Kinda skeptical about paying for something like that...

0 coins

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

0 coins

They don't guarantee it, but they keep trying until they get through. For me, it took about an hour. Way better than doing it myself!

Here's what I've learned from my experience with family leave pay: • Processing time can vary wildly, from 2 weeks to 3 months • Make sure ALL your paperwork is filled out correctly. One mistake can delay everything • Keep copies of everything you submit • If possible, submit online rather than by mail • Call regularly for updates, even if it's frustrating • Consider reaching out to your local representative if it's taking too long Hang in there, OP. The system is slow, but it does work eventually. Don't be afraid to be a squeaky wheel!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! I'll double-check all my paperwork tonight. Fingers crossed I didn't mess anything up 🤞

This is gold 💯 Wish I had known all this when I applied last year!

have u checked ur claim status online? sometimes they dont send notices but u can see updates there

The whole system is broken af 🤡 I've been waiting 4 months and still nothing. This country is a joke when it comes to family support.

0 coins

Preach! 👏 We need to overhaul the entire system. It's 2023, why is this still so difficult?

0 coins

4 MONTHS?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local rep? Sometimes they can help push things through.

Quick question - did you file electronically or by mail? I've heard electronic filing can speed things up a bit.

0 coins

I filed electronically. Thought it would be faster but I guess not 😩

Dang, sorry to hear that. Hopefully it'll come through soon. Sending good vibes your way!

Anyone know if there's been any recent changes to the family leave pay system? I heard they were trying to streamline it but idk if that actually happened

0 coins

Last I heard, they were PLANNING to make changes, but you know how government moves... at a snail's pace 🐌

pro tip: if u cant get thru on the phone, try faxing ur documents. sometimes that gets attention faster

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Been waiting for 6 weeks now. This is so stressful. How are we supposed to take care of our families when the system is this slow?? 😤

0 coins

6 weeks?! That's awful. I hope you get your money soon. This whole thing is so anxiety-inducing.

0 coins

Thanks, you too! Let's hope we both get good news soon. This waiting game is the worst.

I'm dealing with the same issue right now - submitted my DE2504RE form about 5 weeks ago and still waiting. One thing that helped me was creating an account on the EDD website to track my claim status online. You can see if there are any issues or missing documents without having to call. Also, I've been documenting everything (dates, reference numbers, etc.) in case I need to escalate later. The financial stress is real though - have you looked into any emergency assistance programs while you wait? Some local nonprofits offer temporary help with bills. Hang in there! 🙏

This is really helpful advice! I hadn't thought about looking into emergency assistance programs - that's a great idea while we're all waiting for EDD to get their act together. Creating the online account is smart too for tracking. It's frustrating that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get the support we're entitled to, but at least we can help each other navigate this mess. Thanks for sharing these tips!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my DE2504RE about 3 weeks ago and radio silence since then. Reading through all these comments is both reassuring (I'm not alone) and terrifying (some people waiting 4+ months?!). I've been checking the online portal daily but no updates there either. The financial stress is really getting to me - I took family leave to care for my newborn and we're already stretched thin. Has anyone had luck with that early morning calling strategy? I might try setting my alarm for like 7:59am tomorrow and calling right when they open. This whole system really needs an overhaul - it's 2025 and we're still dealing with these ridiculous delays for something as basic as family leave pay. Thanks for starting this thread OP, at least we know we're all in this together! 💪

I'm so sorry you're going through this too! The stress of caring for a newborn AND worrying about money is just awful. I've been in a similar situation and that early morning calling strategy really does work - I finally got through around 8:05am after about a week of trying. Make sure you have all your paperwork ready because once you get someone on the line, they can sometimes resolve issues right away if it's just a missing document or something. Also, congratulations on your newborn! 🍼 Try not to let the EDD stress overshadow this special time if you can. Sending you positive vibes that your payment comes through soon!

I'm dealing with this exact same situation! Filed my DE2504RE form about 7 weeks ago and still nothing. The waiting is absolutely killing me financially and emotionally. I've tried calling probably 30+ times and either get busy signals or sit on hold for hours before getting disconnected. One thing that's helped a little is joining some Facebook groups specifically for CA EDD issues - there are people there who share real-time tips about when phone lines are less busy and which numbers to try. Also, I started keeping a detailed log of every time I call, what happened, and any reference numbers they give me. The most frustrating part is not knowing if there's an issue with my claim or if it's just sitting in a pile somewhere. Has anyone had success with contacting their state assemblyperson's office? I've heard they can sometimes help push things along when EDD is being unresponsive. Stay strong everyone - we shouldn't have to fight this hard for benefits we've paid into! 😤

Lucy, thank you for sharing your experience and those Facebook group tips - that's really smart! I'm definitely going to look into those groups and start keeping a detailed log like you suggested. 7 weeks is way too long to wait, especially when you're dealing with the financial pressure. I hadn't thought about contacting my assemblyperson's office either, but that sounds like it could be worth a shot if the regular channels keep failing. It's so frustrating that we have to become detective-level researchers just to get our own benefits! Hope your payment comes through soon - keep us updated if the Facebook groups or assemblyperson route works out! 🤞

I'm going through this nightmare too! Just hit the 6-week mark waiting for my DE2504RE to process and I'm starting to panic. Reading everyone's experiences here is both helpful and terrifying - knowing I'm not alone but also seeing some people wait 4+ months is just insane. I've been calling every day for the past two weeks with no luck getting through. The system is clearly broken when people have to pay third-party services just to reach a human being! I'm going to try that early morning calling strategy tomorrow and also look into those Facebook groups Lucy mentioned. The worst part is not knowing if there's actually a problem with my application or if it's just sitting in some digital pile. I submitted everything online and double-checked all the forms, but who knows? Has anyone had any luck with the "Contact EDD" feature on their website? I submitted an inquiry there last week but haven't heard back yet. At this point I'm willing to try anything. This financial stress on top of family care responsibilities is just overwhelming. 😔 Thanks for starting this thread Connor - it's good to know we're all fighting this together!

I totally feel your pain @StarStrider! 6 weeks is absolutely ridiculous and the anxiety of not knowing what's happening is the worst part. I'm in a similar boat and this whole thread has been a lifesaver - at least we know we're not going crazy and this really is as broken as it feels. Definitely try that early morning calling strategy, and I'm going to check out those Facebook groups too. It's honestly disgusting that we have to become part-time detectives just to get benefits we've already paid into. The "Contact EDD" website thing seems hit or miss from what I've read elsewhere, but it's worth a shot since you're already waiting anyway. Hang in there - we'll get through this mess eventually! 🙏
