Stuck in PFL claim limbo - any tips to get an update from EDD?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to follow up on my Paid Family Leave claim status. It's been a while since I submitted it and I haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any tips on how to get an update or speed up the process? I'm starting to get worried about my finances and could really use some advice.

Ugh, I feel ya. I've been in the same boat with my PFL claim. It's like they throw our applications into a black hole or something. Have you tried calling the EDD? That's usually the first step, but good luck getting through lol

•I've tried calling so many times, but I always get the 'we're experiencing high call volume' message. It's so frustrating! 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I mean like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get through if youre lucky

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know?

•How long did you have to wait after using the service?

•It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and got a call when an agent was ready. Way better than being stuck to my phone all day.

Here's what I've learned from my PFL claim experience: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all forms and correspondence. 2. Use the online portal to check your claim status regularly. 3. If you need to call, try early mornings or late afternoons. 4. Be prepared with your claim number and all relevant info when you do get through. 5. Consider reaching out to your local assembly member's office for help. 6. Don't give up! It can take time, but persistence pays off. Hang in there, OP. The system is slow, but it does work eventually.

•Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my assembly member, I hadn't thought of that.

•This is super helpful advice! I'm also dealing with a delayed PFL claim and hadn't thought about contacting my assembly member's office. How exactly do you reach out to them - do you just call their office directly?

Hey OP, how long has it been since you filed? I'm on week 6 of waiting and starting to lose my mind.

PSA: There's been a glitch in the EDD system affecting some PFL claims filed in the last 2 months. If you filed during that time, you might want to follow up specifically about this issue.

•Source? This could explain a lot if true.

•I heard it from an EDD rep when I finally got through last week. They didn't have much info, but said they're working on it.

unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just go back to work instead of relying on government handouts 🤷♂️

•Dude, PFL is for people who need to care for family members or bond with new children. It's not a handout, it's a benefit we pay into. educate yourself before commenting 🙄

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of mailing? I've heard it can speed things up sometimes.

•There are online fax services, grandpa 😂 But for real, some gov agencies still prefer fax. Worth a shot!
