PFL claim status not available online after 3 weeks - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my paid family leave claim. I submitted it on October 3rd, but when I try to check the status online, it says it's not available. Has anyone else experienced this? It's been a few weeks now and I'm starting to get worried. Any advice on what I should do next?

I found a way to solve paid family leave claim delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-K4TCjmxws

Ugh, I'm in the same boat! Submitted mine back in September and still nothing. The online system is such a joke 🤡

•Have you guys tried calling? Sometimes that's the only way to get any real info

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep just to talk to someone...

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own

Here's what I've learned from dealing with PFL claims: 1. Online status updates are often delayed or inaccurate 2. It can take up to 14 business days for them to even start processing your claim 3. If you haven't heard anything after 3 weeks, definitely try to contact them 4. Keep all your documentation handy - they might ask for additional info 5. Check your mail regularly - sometimes they send requests for info by snail mail instead of electronically Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP!

Pro tip: if you can, try calling right when they open in the morning. I got through after only a 20 min wait last week!

•What time do they open? Might try this tomorrow

•I think it's 8am Pacific Time, but double check on their website to be sure!

Anyone else notice that the website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🤔

Guys, I'm telling you, snail mail is the way to go. I sent in a paper form and got my approval in 3 weeks. Sometimes old school is better!

•Wait, you can still do paper forms? Where do you even get those?

•You can download them from the PFL website and mail them in. Just make sure to send it certified so you have proof of delivery!

Hey Kaitlyn! I went through the exact same thing last month. After 3 weeks of "not available" status, I finally got through to someone who told me that sometimes claims get stuck in a weird limbo state in their system. They had to manually push mine through - turned out it was just sitting there waiting for someone to look at it. Definitely try calling first thing in the morning like Teresa suggested, or if you're really fed up, that claimyr thing Abigail mentioned might be worth it. Also make sure you didn't miss any mail from them - they sent me a random form request that I almost missed. Good luck! 🤞

•This is super helpful Giovanni! Thanks for sharing your experience. The "limbo state" thing makes so much sense - I bet that's exactly what's happening with mine. I'm definitely going to try calling first thing tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work, I might have to bite the bullet and try that claimyr service. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain what worked for you! 🙏

I'm dealing with the exact same situation right now! Filed my PFL claim on September 28th and still getting the "status not available" message. It's so frustrating because you need that income and have no idea what's going on. I've been checking every day hoping something changes. Reading through all these comments is actually really reassuring though - at least I know I'm not the only one going through this mess. Think I'm gonna try the early morning calling strategy that Teresa mentioned. Has anyone had luck with contacting their local assembly member's office? I heard sometimes they can help push things along with state agencies.

•Lucas, I haven't tried contacting my assembly member's office yet, but that's actually a really good idea! I've heard they can sometimes help with state agency issues. Might be worth a shot if the calling doesn't work out. It's definitely reassuring to know we're all dealing with the same frustrating system. Let me know how the early morning calling goes for you - I'm planning to try that too!

I'm going through the exact same thing! Filed my PFL claim on October 1st and it's been radio silence ever since. The "status not available" message is driving me crazy because I have no idea if they even received it properly. Reading all these comments is both comforting (knowing I'm not alone) and terrifying (realizing how broken the system is). I think I'm going to try calling at 8am sharp tomorrow morning like Teresa suggested, and if that doesn't work I might have to consider that claimyr service even though $20 feels steep. Has anyone tried faxing them? I know it's old school but sometimes those methods work better than the online portal. Really hoping we all get some resolution soon - this whole situation is so stressful when you're already dealing with family leave stuff! 😤
