PFL application with EDD - No response or payment after a month. Help!
I applied for Paid Family Leave over a month ago and haven't heard anything back. No updates, no money, nothing. I'm getting worried because I need this money to support my family while I'm off work. Has anyone else experienced long delays with PFL? Any advice on how to get through to someone at EDD?

Ugh, I feel you. I was in the same boat last year. It took them almost 2 months to process my claim! 😤 Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've tried calling but can never get through. It's so frustrating! How many times did you have to call before you got someone?

•Honestly, I lost count 😅 I think it was like 50+ times over a couple weeks. It's ridiculous how hard it is to reach them.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through on my third try doing that!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

•Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•How long did you have to wait once they connected you?

•Not long at all. Maybe 5 minutes? Way better than spending hours redialing.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for PFL: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all forms you submit. 2. If you can, submit your claim online. It's usually faster. 3. Check your account regularly for updates. 4. If you don't hear back within 2 weeks, start calling. 5. Be persistent. Sometimes you have to be a squeaky wheel. 6. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things along. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. 💪

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of mailing/uploading? I heard it might be faster but idk if thats just an urban legend lol

Just a heads up, there was a news article last week saying EDD is experiencing major backlogs due to staff shortages. Might explain the delays everyone's experiencing.

•Great, just what we needed 🙄 Any idea when they expect to catch up?

•The article didn't say, unfortunately. But they're supposedly hiring more staff.
