PFL claim from Sept-Dec still unpaid, EDD silent after promising to process. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my PFL claim. I filed for Paid Family Leave from September to December last year, but I still haven't received any payment. I called EDD last week and they said they'd process my claim, but I haven't heard anything since. They told me to call back this week if I didn't get an update. It's been radio silence and I'm getting worried. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar with my SDI claim. It took FOREVER to get processed. Have you tried checking your online account for any updates? Sometimes they update there before they actually contact you.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I've been checking my online account obsessively, but still nothing new there. It's so frustrating 😫

•Pro tip: take screenshots of your online account everytime you check. It helps if you need to prove later that they didn't update anything for weeks!

I hate to say it, but welcome to the EDD nightmare club 🤡 I've been waiting on my unemployment benefits for 3 months now. The system is totally broken.

Okay, let me break this down for you. Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling EDD every single day. Be persistent. 2. Document everything. Every call, every person you talk to, every promise made. 3. Reach out to your local state representative. They can sometimes expedite claims. 4. Check if you qualify for any hardship programs while you wait. 5. Make sure all your paperwork is in order. Sometimes claims get held up because of missing documents. 6. Join Facebook groups for California EDD claims. There's a wealth of info there. 7. Consider filing a complaint with the state if it goes on too long. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

Have you tried contacting them through social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on Facebook can get a faster response. Worth a shot!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It saved me hours of hold time.

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for a phone call...

•I get it, but when you're waiting on thousands in benefits, $20 to actually talk to someone seemed worth it to me. 🤷♂️

idk man, sounds like ur in for a long wait. EDD is notorious for this bs. Maybe start a gofundme while u wait? 🤔

Have you checked if your employer submitted all the necessary paperwork? Sometimes the holdup is on their end and EDD is waiting for info from them.

Oof, been there done that. Got my PFL after 4 months of calling and begging. Hang in there, buddy. You'll get your money eventually... probably when you don't even need it anymore 🙃
