PFL payment from last year sent back to EDD - never received it. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my paid family leave payment from last year. I called EDD and they said it was sent back to PFL, but I never got it. When I called again, they couldn't give me any answers about where the money went. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do next?

Ugh, that sucks. I've been there before. The whole system is a mess. Have you tried calling PFL directly? Sometimes EDD and PFL don't communicate well, and you gotta be the middleman.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give PFL a call tomorrow. It's so frustrating being bounced around like this 😤

•Good luck getting through to anyone! I spent weeks trying to reach a human at PFL. It's like they're allergic to answering phones or something 🙄

•No prob! Yeah, it can be a real headache. Just keep at it and document everything. You might need it later if things get messy.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth it for me, especially when dealing with time-sensitive issues.

•Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. How do we know this isn't just some scam?

•Not a scam, I promise! It's legit. They only charge if they actually connect you to an agent. Saved my sanity tbh.

Here's what you need to do to resolve your Paid Family Leave (PFL) payment issue: 1. Gather all your documentation: claim number, dates of leave, any correspondence you've received. 2. Contact PFL directly at 1-877-238-4373. Be prepared for a long wait. 3. When you reach an agent, explain that EDD said your payment was sent back. Ask for: - The exact date the payment was returned - The reason for the return - What steps are needed to reissue the payment 4. If PFL can't help, file an appeal. You can do this online or by mail. 5. Consider contacting your state representative. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 6. Keep detailed records of all calls, including agent names and call reference numbers. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up until you get your money!

The whole PFL system is a joke. I've been waiting 3 months for my claim to be processed. Good luck getting any straight answers from them 🤡

•3 months? Amateur hour. Try 6 months and counting. I'm bout ready to camp outside their office at this point 😤

•6 months?! Jeez, I guess I should count my blessings. This system is so broken.

Have you considered reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape and get answers faster.

•That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

•Just google your district and 'state assembly member' or 'state senator'. Most have websites with contact forms or office phone numbers. explain your situation and they usually have staff dedicated to helping with state agency issues.

I went through something similar last year! Turns out my payment got lost in the mail and was returned to sender. Here's what worked for me: I had to request a "payment trace" - basically asking them to track where the payment went. You can do this by calling the PFL number and specifically asking for a payment trace. They'll investigate and if the payment was indeed returned, they can reissue it as a direct deposit instead of a check. It took about 2-3 weeks but I finally got my money. Don't let them brush you off - be persistent and ask for supervisor if the first person can't help!
