PFL claim stuck on 'processing' since April - EDD website shows nothing, what to do?

Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated with my paid family leave claim. It's been stuck on 'processing' since mid-April and I'm getting worried. I'm the only one bringing in money right now and I haven't gone back to work yet because I was told to apply for PFL. I got my notice of computation in the mail, but when I check the EDD website, there's nothing showing up. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there too. The EDD system is such a mess rn. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get things moving.

I've tried calling so many times, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59am. It's still a pain, but your chances are way better.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It worked for me and saved me hours of frustration.

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes important emails from EDD end up there. Also, make sure you're logging into the right portal on the website. There's one for UI and a separate one for PFL/SDI.

This happened to me too! Turns out there was a glitch in their system and my claim wasn't properly transferred from SDI to PFL. I had to call and have them manually fix it. It's a pain, but keep trying to get through to someone.

Oh no, I hope that's not what happened to me too. How long did it take to get it sorted out once you got through to someone?

It took about a week after I talked to someone. They had to escalate it to a specialist. Hang in there!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling EDD. Yes, it's a pain, but it's necessary. Try different times of day. 2. Contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 3. Double-check all your paperwork. Make sure you didn't miss any forms or signatures. 4. If you have online access, send a message through the EDD portal asking for a status update. 5. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. 6. If it's been more than 3 weeks since you applied, consider filing a request for expedited processing due to financial hardship. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but you will get through eventually.

This is great advice! I'd add: join Facebook groups for California EDD help. Sometimes you can get insider tips there.

Contacting my state rep was what finally worked for me. Highly recommend!

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it hard on purpose.

Totally agree. We need to push for reform. This isn't working for anyone.

Quick question - did you transition from SDI to PFL? Sometimes that transition can cause delays. Make sure both claims are properly linked in the system.

No, I went straight to PFL. But thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind if I ever need to do both!
