PFL claim still pending after weeks - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my paid family leave claim. It's been pending for a while now and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced long wait times for their PFL claims to be processed? I'm not sure if I should be doing anything else or just keep waiting. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been waiting on my PFL claim for what feels like forever. It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on or when it'll be approved. Have you tried calling them? I've heard it's nearly impossible to get through, but maybe worth a shot?

ā¢Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I've tried calling a few times but always get stuck in this endless phone tree. It's driving me crazy š«

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. I managed to get through after only 30 minutes on hold that way!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

ā¢How long did it take for them to get through?

ā¢It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with PFL claims: ⢠Be patient: Processing times can vary wildly depending on their workload ⢠Double-check your application: Make sure you've submitted all required documents ⢠Keep an eye on your mail: They might send requests for additional info ⢠Use your online account: Sometimes updates appear there before you get a letter ⢠Don't be afraid to follow up: If it's been more than 4 weeks, definitely give them a call Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but you'll get through it eventually.

ā¢Thank you so much for this detailed response! It's really helpful to have all this info in one place. I'll definitely keep an eye on my online account.

ā¢This is great advice! Wish I had known all this when I was going through the process last year.

Have you checked if your employer submitted their portion of the claim? Sometimes that can hold things up.

ā¢3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Just a heads up, they recently updated their system and it's causing some delays. Might be why your claim is taking longer than usual.

Anyone else notice how the wait times seem to get longer every year? I swear it used to be so much faster back in the day. š©

ā¢Yep, it's definitely gotten worse. Probably budget cuts and understaffing. Classic government move š
