PFL claim still pending after weeks - need advice on speeding up process
I filed a claim for paid family leave and it's still pending. I'm getting really frustrated because I need this money to support my family while I'm taking care of my sick parent. Has anyone else experienced long delays with their PFL claims? Any advice on how to speed up the process or get in touch with someone who can help?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been waiting on my PFL claim for weeks now. It's so frustrating when you're trying to do the right thing and take care of family, but then you're left hanging without any income. Have you tried calling the PFL office? I've heard some people have had luck getting through if they call right when they open.

•I've tried calling so many times, but I always get stuck on hold forever and then the call drops. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to anyone! 😤

•Pro tip: call at exactly 8:01 AM. That's when the lines open and you have the best chance of getting through. Good luck!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•20 bucks to actually talk to a human? Sign me up! 💸

•Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. Why should we have to pay to get basic customer service? 🤔

•I get where you're coming from, but when you're waiting on thousands of dollars in benefits, $20 to actually get answers is worth it. It's not ideal, but it works.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They often have contacts within EDD and can help push your claim through. It worked for me when I was stuck in PFL limbo for months.

•I didn't even know that was an option! How do I find out who my assembly member is?

•Just google '[your city] assembly member' and it should come up. Most have a 'contact us' form on their website where you can explain your situation.

The whole PFL system is a joke. I've been dealing with them for 3 months now and still haven't seen a dime. Meanwhile, bills are piling up and my credit score is tanking. How are we supposed to take care of our families like this? 🤬

Here's what I've learned from my experience with PFL claims: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and interactions with PFL. 2. Make sure your claim form is filled out correctly. Double-check all dates and information. 3. If your employer is slow in responding to PFL's requests, follow up with them directly. 4. Use the online portal to check your claim status and upload any additional documents they might need. 5. If you're really stuck, consider reaching out to your state representative or senator's office. They can often help expedite claims. 6. Be persistent but polite. The people on the phone didn't create the backlog, but they might be able to help you navigate it. 7. If all else fails, consider using a paid service like the one mentioned above to get through to a real person. Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but don't give up!

Has anyone had any luck with the PFL appeals process? My claim was denied for some BS reason and I'm thinking about appealing.

•I appealed my denial and won, but it took forever. Like 4 months from start to finish. If you have a legit case, go for it, but be prepared to wait.

•Ugh, 4 months? That's rough. But I guess it's better than nothing. Thanks for the info!

Pro tip: if you fax your documents instead of mailing them, it can speed up the process. I know it's 2023 and faxing seems ancient, but trust me, it works.

•There are online fax services that let you fax right from your computer. Welcome to the future of the past! 🖨️

Anyone else notice that the PFL website is always 'under maintenance' when you actually need to use it? 🙄
