SDI to PFL transition delay - claim pending for a month with no updates. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my Paid Family Leave claim. It's been pending processing for almost a month now without any updates. I just transitioned from SDI to PFL and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar delays? It's starting to cause some financial stress and I'm not sure what to do next. Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I'm in the same boat! My claim has been pending for 6 weeks now. It's so frustrating. Have you tried calling them? I've been trying to get through but no luck so far.

•I've tried calling a few times but always get the busy signal. It's like they don't want us to reach them 🙄

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I managed to get through after only 30 minutes on hold that way!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Can you give more details about how it works? Like, do you have to give them your personal info?

•Nah, you just put in the number you want them to call, pay, and they do the rest. When an agent picks up, they connect you. Simple as that.

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about SDI to PFL transitions: • The transition can often cause delays due to the need for additional processing. • Typically, it should take 5-7 business days, but can stretch to 2-3 weeks in some cases. • Make sure all your documentation is in order, including your claim form (DE 2501F) and medical certification. • If it's been over 3 weeks, definitely try to contact them. • Keep checking your online account for any updates or requests for additional information. • Sometimes, sending a secure message through your online account can prompt action. • If possible, have your employer confirm they've submitted all necessary info. Hang in there, OP! The system is frustratingly slow sometimes, but keep pushing. You'll get your benefits eventually!

Oof, transitioning from SDI to PFL is THE WORST. Took me like 2 months to get it sorted. The EDD is a joke fr 🤡

Not to be that person, but have you checked if theres any local non-profits or legal aid organizations that can help? Sometimes they have connections or know the right people to talk to.

•That's actually a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. Do you know any specific orgs I should look into?

•Try searching for 'legal aid' or 'workers rights' orgs in your area. Also, some law schools have clinics that might be able to help!

Hey, former EDD employee here. The transition from SDI to PFL can be tricky because it involves two different systems. Make sure you've filed a separate claim for PFL, as it doesn't automatically transition. Also, check that your doctor has certified the need for PFL. If you're still stuck, try reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They often have liaisons who can help push claims through.
