PFL payments delayed after SDI claim - Can't reach anyone at EDD. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my paid family leave claim. I submitted it after my SDI ended, but I haven't received any payments yet. It's been over a month now. I've been trying to call the PFL department, but they're always at max capacity. Has anyone else dealt with this? I got my notice of computation, but I'm not sure what to do next. Any advice?

Ugh, I feel your pain! The PFL department is a nightmare to get through to. Have you tried calling right when they open? That's how I finally got through after weeks of trying.

•I've tried that a few times, but no luck so far. How long did you have to wait on hold once you got through?

•It was about an hour and a half 😩 But at least I finally got to talk to someone! Hang in there!

•An hour and a half? That's actually not bad compared to what I've heard from others. Some people wait 3+ hours!

I found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration!

•$20 to actually talk to someone? Might be worth it at this point 🤔

•Totally worth it IMO. Just make sure you have all your info ready when they connect you!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there before sending out notices. Also, double-check that they have your correct mailing address on file.

I'm in the same boat, fam. Been waiting for my PFL payments for 6 weeks now. This system is so broken 😤

•6 weeks?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

•No, I haven't thought of that. Good idea! I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling every day. Use the Claimyr service if you can afford it. 2. Check your online account for any updates or requests for additional info. 3. Make sure all your paperwork is in order. Double-check dates, employer info, etc. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a secure message through your online account. 5. As a last resort, contact your local state representative or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but persistence usually pays off. Good luck!

Quick question - did your employer submit their portion of the PFL paperwork? Sometimes that can hold things up.

•You know, I'm not sure. I'll check with HR tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes it's faster than mail or online submissions.

Ugh, the EDD is such a mess rn. I heard they're super backlogged bc of all the fraud cases they had to deal with during covid. Doesn't make it any easier for us tho 😑

•Yeah, but that was like 3 years ago. You'd think they'd have their act together by now 🙄

•True that. Guess we can't expect miracles from government agencies lol
