PFL claim date correction taking forever - need advice
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my PFL claim. It's been over a month and they're still processing it. I need to fix the claim date for my Paid Family Leave year. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what documents I should have ready when I call them?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I had to deal with this last year and it was a nightmare. Make sure you have all your original paperwork handy when you call. They'll probably ask for the exact dates you worked before taking leave, so have your pay stubs ready too.

This. 👆 Also, be prepared to explain WHY you need the date changed. They can be real sticklers about it.

Thanks for the advice! I'll dig up my pay stubs. Do you remember how long it took them to fix your claim date?

It took about 2 weeks after I called, but I had to follow up twice. Stay on top of it!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait for the callback?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still beats calling yourself and getting hung up on 🤷♂️

Have you tried faxing your request? Sometimes that works better than calling. Here's the fax number I used: 1-855-027-1688

I didn't even think about faxing! Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather ALL your documents. I'm talking pay stubs, original claim paperwork, any correspondence from PFL, everything. 2. Write a clear, concise letter explaining why you need the claim date changed. Be specific and include dates. 3. If you can, get a letter from your employer confirming your last day of work before leave. 4. Use the fax number someone else mentioned, but ALSO mail a hard copy via certified mail. Cover all your bases. 5. Follow up with a phone call after a week. Use that Claimyr thing if you have to. 6. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every fax. Names and ID numbers of anyone you talk to. 7. If all else fails, contact your state representative. They can sometimes light a fire under PFL's ass. Stay persistent, and don't let them give you the runaround. Good luck!

Contacting your state rep is lowkey genius. Wish I'd thought of that when I was dealing with my claim 😩

Just curious, why do you need to change the claim date? I'm about to file for PFL and wanna make sure I don't mess it up 😅

I messed up the start date on my original claim. Make sure you double-check everything before you submit!
