PFL claim stalled after submitting missing doc a month ago - need advice on getting EDD update

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my PFL claim. I submitted a missing document about a month ago, but I haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get an update on my claim status? I'm getting worried about the delay.

I found a way to solve PFL claim document submission delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy0EEdt5lLg

Ugh, I feel ya. The EDD is such a mess rn. I had to wait like 3 months for my claim to go through. Have you tried calling them? That's what finally worked for me.

I've been trying to call, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! How many times did you have to call before you got someone?

Honestly, I lost count 😅 I think I tried like 50 times over a couple weeks. It's ridiculous how hard it is to reach them.

50 times?! That's insane. There's gotta be a better way to handle this stuff. The system is broken af 🤦‍♂️

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it's legit. I used it last week and got through in about an hour. Saved me days of frustration.

How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time to be ready for the call?

Yeah, they send you updates via text. When an agent picks up, you get a call. You just have to be ready to answer when it comes through.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with PFL claims: • Always keep copies of everything you submit • Follow up every 2 weeks if you haven't heard back • Use their online portal to check status updates • If calling, try early morning or late afternoon • Be persistent but polite with representatives Hope this helps! Hang in there, the process can be slow but it usually works out in the end.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try following up more regularly. Do you know if there's a specific number that's better to call?

Glad to help! I usually use the main PFL number (1-877-238-4373), but I've heard some people have luck with the general EDD number too. Just be prepared for long wait times either way.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of california bureaucracy 🤡 where everything's made up and the timelines don't matter

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite claims or at least get you more info.

I hadn't even thought of that! How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Just google 'find my california assembly member' and enter your address. Their office should have a constituent services team that can help with state agency issues.

PRO TIP: When you finally get through to someone, ask them for a direct extension or callback number. Some reps will give you one, and it can save you hours of hold time for future calls.

This!!! 💯 I got a direct number once and it was a game changer. Just be super nice to the rep and they might hook you up.
