PFL claim pending since January - no updates. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated. My PFL claim has been pending since January and I haven't heard anything back. It's been months and I'm starting to worry. Has anyone else experienced such a long wait? Any advice on how to get an update or speed up the process?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last year. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get any real answers.

I've tried calling so many times, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get through faster that way.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

January?! That's ridiculous. Have you checked if there are any missing documents or issues with your claim? Sometimes they don't tell you if something's wrong and just let it sit there.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep for a phone call.

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO.

How long did you have to wait once they started calling?

It took about 45 minutes, but I just went about my day and they called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than being stuck to my phone all day.

The whole system is broken. I've been dealing with PFL issues for months too. It's like they want us to give up. 🤬

Preach! 🙌 The bureaucracy is insane. We need some serious reform.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with PFL claims: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and any communication with them. 2. Check your online account regularly for updates or requests for additional info. 3. If possible, send any documents via certified mail so you have proof of delivery. 4. Reach out to your local state representative. Sometimes they can help push things along. 5. Be persistent but polite when you do get someone on the phone. They're probably overwhelmed too. 6. Consider filing a formal complaint if it's been an unreasonable amount of time. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but don't give up.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records. I hadn't thought about contacting my state rep - that's a great idea.

I went through something similar last year - my claim was stuck for 3 months! What finally worked for me was submitting a complaint through the CA Labor Commissioner's office online. They have a specific form for wage claim issues that includes PFL delays. Within 2 weeks of filing that complaint, someone from EDD called me directly and my claim was processed within days. It's like they have a special queue for complaints that actually gets attention. Worth a shot if all else fails!
