PFL claim not processed or paid after 3 weeks - help!

Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated right now. It's been 3 weeks since I tried to reestablish my PFL claim, and I still haven't been processed or paid. Has anyone else experienced such a long delay? I'm starting to worry about my bills piling up. Any advice on how to speed things up or what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. It took them almost 5 weeks to process my claim. The system is so backed up its ridiculous. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can help move things along.

Thanks for the sympathy. I've been trying to call, but I can never get through. It's like hitting a brick wall every time 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get through if youre one of the first callers of the day.

That's a good idea, I'll give it a shot. What time do they open?

0 coins

I think it's 8am, but double check on their website to be sure. Good luck!

3 weeks is actually not that bad compared to some stories I've heard. My cousin waited 2 months for his claim to be processed. The whole system is a joke tbh 🤡

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help expedite things. It's worth a shot if you're really in a bind.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my local rep is?

Just google '[your city] state representative' and it should come up. Most have contact forms on their websites. Explain your situation and see if they can help!

Thanks, I'll definitely try that out!

Hey guys, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

Idk man, paying to get through to a government agency seems sketchy af 🤔

I get the skepticism, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Just sharing what helped me out!

Can you give more details about how it works? Like, do they guarantee you'll get through?

0 coins

They don't guarantee it, but in my experience it worked great. Basically, their system navigates the phone tree and waits on hold so you don't have to. When a real person picks up, it calls you. Simple but effective!

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before and I've got some tips that might help: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them, including dates and times. 2. Check your online account religiously. Sometimes they update info there without notifying you. 3. If you can, submit any additional documentation they might need, even if they haven't asked for it yet. This can sometimes speed things up. 4. Be persistent but polite when you do get through. The person on the other end is probably overworked and underpaid. 5. Consider reaching out on social media. Some agencies are more responsive there. 6. If all else fails, contact your local ombudsman or state representative. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up! 💪

Good idea, but I've been checking everywhere. No luck so far 😕

This is why we need serious reform in our benefits system. It's ridiculous that people have to jump through so many hoops just to get what they're entitled to. We should all be writing to our representatives about this!

Preach! 🙌 The system is broken and needs a complete overhaul.

Yeah, but good luck getting politicians to care about anything that doesn't directly benefit them 🙄

I'm in a similar boat right now - submitted my PFL claim 2.5 weeks ago and still nothing. It's so stressful when you're counting on that money! I've been trying the early morning call strategy that @Liam mentioned, and while I haven't gotten through yet, I did notice the hold times are shorter around 8:15am vs later in the day. Also, @Dmitry's advice about documenting everything is spot on - I started keeping a spreadsheet of all my call attempts and it's already helped me stay organized. Hang in there, we'll get through this! 💪
