PFL claim stuck in EDD processing for 3+ weeks, no updates. What to do?

Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with my PFL claim. I submitted it over three weeks ago and EDD still shows it as 'processing'. Has anyone else experienced such a long wait time? I haven't received any notices or letters about it either. Any advice on what I should do next or how to speed things up?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last month. It took them almost 5 weeks to process my claim. The waiting game is brutal 😫

5 weeks?! That's insane. I thought mine was bad at 3 weeks. How did you manage to survive that long without any income?

It was tough, not gonna lie. Had to dip into savings and borrow some money from family. EDD really needs to get their act together!

Yall are lucky. Im going on 2 months now 🤡 This system is so broken

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can help speed things up. Just be prepared to spend hours on hold...

I've tried calling multiple times, but I can never get through. It's always busy or they hang up on me. So frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. It's still a pain, but your chances are way better.

Hey, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep when were already struggling financially...

I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get some answers and move my claim forward. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about PFL claims: 1. Processing time: Typically takes 2-3 weeks, but can extend to 4-6 weeks during busy periods. 2. No news is... normal: EDD often doesn't send updates during processing. 3. Online account: Check your EDD online account daily for any updates or requests for additional info. 4. Persistence pays off: Keep trying to call, especially early mornings or late afternoons. 5. Document everything: Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them, might be useful later. 6. Local rep: Consider contacting your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help expedite claims. 7. Be patient: Unfortunately, delays are common. Make sure you have some financial backup if possible. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. 💪

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is really helpful. I'll definitely try contacting my local rep, hadn't thought of that.

This should be pinned or something. Super useful info!

idk if this helps but I had a similar issue last year. Turns out they were missing some info from my employer. Might be worth checking if your employer submitted everything correctly on their end.

Has anyone else noticed that EDD seems to be slower since the pandemic? I swear it wasn't this bad before COVID hit.

Totally agree. They got swamped during lockdowns and never really recovered. System needs a major overhaul.

0 coins

Yeah, but tbf they had to deal with unprecedented numbers of claims. Still, you'd think they'd have figured it out by now...

Just a heads up, make sure you have all your ducks in a row with documentation. I thought my claim was all good, but then they asked for additional proof of my medical condition 4 weeks in. Set me back another 2 weeks 😑

Anyone know if theres a way to escalate a claim? Like is there a supervisor we can talk to or something?

Good luck with that. EDD customer service is like trying to find a unicorn in a haystack 🦄🙄
