PFL claim submitted 3+ months ago, no response from EDD, can't see claim online or by phone. Help!
I submitted my PFL claim over 3 months ago and haven't heard anything back. I've tried calling EDD but they say there's no claim associated with my name. When I log into the website, it doesn't show any pending claims either. I've been back at work for 3 weeks now and still haven't received any communication or pay from EDD. I need this sorted out ASAP so I can share the info with my employer. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get through to someone who can help?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Submitted my claim 2 months ago and crickets. EDD's system is a joke. Have you tried faxing your documents? I've heard that sometimes works better than online submission.

•I haven't tried faxing yet. Didn't even know that was an option tbh. Do you have the fax number?

•Yeah, it's 1-855-342-6635. Good luck! Let me know if it works for you.

•Faxing in 2023? What is this, the stone age? 🦕 EDD needs to get with the times fr

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds sketchy af. How do you know it's legit?

•I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Got through to an agent in like 30 mins. Worth the $20 imo

•Wait, we gotta PAY to talk to EDD now? This system is so broken 🤦♂️

•I get it, but think about how much time and frustration it saves. Plus, if you're waiting on thousands in benefits, $20 is nothing.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Contact your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 3. File a complaint with the EDD. Sometimes this can bump your claim up for review. 4. If all else fails, consider reaching out to local media. Bad press can sometimes motivate action. Don't give up! The system is frustrating but persistence usually pays off.

•Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my state rep. Do you know how long that usually takes to get a response?

•In my experience, it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks. But it's usually faster than waiting for EDD to respond on their own. Good luck!

have u tried going to an EDD office in person? sometimes face-to-face works better than dealing w/ their garbage website

This is why I always tell people to save up an emergency fund. You can't rely on the government to have your back when you need it. 🤷♂️

•Ok boomer 🙄 Not everyone has the luxury of saving up months of expenses

•It's not about luxury, it's about priorities. Cut out the lattes and avocado toast and you'd be surprised how much you can save.

I had a similar issue last year. Turns out they had my SSN wrong in the system. Double check all your info is correct. One typo can mess up the whole thing.

•Oh man, I didn't even think of that. I'll definitely double check everything. Thanks for the tip!

Have you tried submitting a new claim? I know it sounds counterintuitive, but sometimes their system glitches and "loses" claims. A friend of mine had the same issue - submitted in January, nothing for months, then submitted a fresh claim in April and suddenly both claims showed up and got processed within 2 weeks. Might be worth a shot while you're also trying the other suggestions here. Make sure to mention in any correspondence that this is a resubmission due to the original claim disappearing from their system.
