PFL claim pending for 3+ months with EDD - no updates, can't reach anyone. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm at my wits end here. I filed for Paid Family Leave back in December and it's been over 3 months now. My claim is still pending and I haven't heard a peep from EDD. I've tried calling but can't get through to anyone. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? Any advice on how to get some answers or speed things up? I'm really starting to struggle financially and could use some help.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last year. It took them almost 5 months to process my claim. The system is so broken its not even funny. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They sometimes can help speed things up.

•5 months?! That's insane. I haven't tried contacting my assembly member yet. How did you go about doing that?

•Just google your address + 'assembly member'. You should find their office contact info. Send them an email explaining your situation and they might be able to help push things along. It worked for me!

•I second this advice! My assembly member's office was super helpful when I was stuck in EDD limbo. Def worth a shot 👍

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was talking to an agent in less than an hour. Worth every penny imho.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Yeah, basically they have a system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. No more endless hold music! 🙌

Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes they update info there without sending a notification. Also, make sure you've submitted all required docs. They won't tell you if something's missing, they'll just let your claim sit there 🙄

This is why I always tell ppl to have an emergency fund. You cant rely on the government to help you out in a timely manner. They don't care about our struggles.

•Wow, way to victim blame. Not everyone has the luxury of saving up months of expenses. Check your privilege, dude.

•I'm not blaming anyone, just stating facts. The system is broken and we need to protect ourselves. 🤷♂️

Here's what I've learned from my experience with EDD and PFL claims: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and any communication with EDD. 2. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. Use the trick of calling right when they open or just before they close. 3. Check your UI Online account regularly for updates or requests for additional information. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via social media. Sometimes their Twitter support can be helpful. 5. Contact your local assembly member or state senator's office. They often have liaisons who can intervene on your behalf. 6. Make sure all your documentation is in order. Double-check that you've submitted everything they've asked for. 7. If you're really struggling financially, look into local resources for temporary assistance while you wait for your claim to process. 8. Consider using a paid service like Claimyr if you're desperate to get through on the phone. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but keep pushing and you'll get your benefits eventually.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes that gets faster results than submitting online. Worth a shot!

•Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But for real, I'll try anything at this point. Do you know what fax number to use?

•Lol I know right? Here's the number I used: 1-855-027-1940. Make sure to include your claim number on every page!
