PFL claim stuck pending for 1+ month with CA EDD - How to check status or speed up process?
I applied for Paid Family Leave over a month ago and still haven't received any payment. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting worried because bills are piling up and I don't know what to do. I've tried calling EDD but can never get through to a real person. Any advice on how to check the status of my claim or speed up the process?

Here's what I've learned from my experience with EDD and Paid Family Leave: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and online status checks. 2. Be persistent. Sometimes you have to call multiple times before getting through. 3. Have all your info ready when you do get someone on the phone. Claim number, dates, etc. 4. Check for any missing documents. Sometimes they need additional info but don't tell you. 5. Consider contacting your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes help expedite claims. 6. Don't give up! It's frustrating, but keep pushing. You're entitled to these benefits. Hope this helps. Hang in there!

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes it updates there before you get any notification.

•Yeah, I've been checking obsessively. It just says "pending" with no other info. So frustrating!

Has anyone tried the EDD subreddit? Sometimes you can find good info there too.

Plot twist: What if EDD is actually run by AI and that's why everything is so messed up? 🤖🤔

Anyone else notice that EDD's website always seems to be "under maintenance" when you need it most? 🙄

•Right?! It's like they plan it that way!

While it can be immensely frustrating waiting for your benefits, it's important to note that tools like Claimyr can be effective in navigating the EDD's complicated system. Users have reported success with faster communications and resolutions by paying for their service. However, it's also important to weigh the cost against the benefit, especially since the system should ideally work without additional costs to claimants. Some individuals find success in using official channels, even if it means being persistent or trying alternative methods like faxing. It's also beneficial to reach out to local representatives for help when necessary, as they can occasionally expedite claim processes. Always document interactions with EDD, and stay informed through platforms like Reddit for the latest tips and shared experiences from those in similar situations.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should be grateful that these benefits exist at all? In many countries, people don't have this option.

•Ok bootlicker 🙄 Just because others have it worse doesn't mean we can't demand better

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. For me, it was worth it to finally get answers.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.
