PFL claim stuck in limbo - no updates from EDD for weeks. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated with my PFL claim. I filed it a while back and haven't heard anything. I got some letters from EDD but still no update on the status. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to follow up?

Ugh, I feel ya. The EDD is such a mess rn. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59am. Sometimes you can get through before the lines get jammed.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

ā¢Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny tbh.

ā¢Wait, you have to PAY to talk to a government agency? That's messed up.

ā¢I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. Plus, if you're waiting on thousands in benefits, $20 is nothing.

Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling. Here's a template you can use: Subject: Follow-Up on PFL Claim Status Dear EDD Representative, I'm writing about my Paid Family Leave claim filed on [DATE]. I haven't received any updates and would appreciate information on its current status. Please let me know if you need any additional information from me. Thank you, [YOUR NAME]

I hate to say it, but sometimes you gotta go nuclear. Contact your local state representative or senator. They can often cut through the red tape and get answers from EDD.

idk if this helps, but I was in the same boat last year. Turns out they were missing a document from my employer. Double check that your employer submitted everything on their end. That was the holdup for me.

The whole system is broken af. I've been waiting 3 months for my claim to be processed. Meanwhile, bills are piling up and I'm about to lose my apartment. Thanks for nothing, EDD! š¤¬

OK, listen up folks. I used to work for EDD (don't @ me, I quit for a reason), so here's the inside scoop on how to actually get your claim moving: ⢠First, make sure ALL your docs are in order. Double check with your employer that they submitted their part. ⢠If you haven't already, file an appeal. Even if you don't think you need to. It gets your claim flagged for review. ⢠Call early and often. Yes, it sucks, but persistence pays off. Try different numbers too - sometimes the disability line is less busy than the main one. ⢠Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. If you have to escalate, this paper trail will be your best friend. ⢠If all else fails, go to your local EDD office in person. Bring all your docs and don't leave until you get answers. Remember, the system is overloaded and understaffed. It's not an excuse, but it's the reality. Stay persistent and don't give up. Good luck!
