No response from EDD about PFL application status - need to speak with someone ASAP
Hey everyone, I'm trying to check on my PFL application status but haven't received any letters or notices yet. I really need to speak with someone at EDD about this. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any advice on how to get through to a real person?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through to EDD for weeks about my PFL application. It's like they've gone into hiding or something. Have you tried calling early in the morning? I've heard that's the best time to get through.

•Early morning calls are hit or miss tbh. I've had better luck calling right before lunch. Seems like thats when they're in a hurry to wrap up calls 🤷♂️

•Nah, forget about timing. Its all random. I swear they just pick up when they feel like it 🙄

•Thanks for the suggestions! I'll give both a try and see if I can get lucky.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure its legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I've heard about services like this. How long did you have to wait before they connected you?

•It's definitely legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. @profile 6, I waited about 45 minutes, but I didn't have to actively sit by the phone. They called me when an agent was on the line.

•Man, the fact that we even need services like this shows how broken the system is 🤦♂️

Have you tried emailing them? I know it's not as immediate, but I actually got a response within a few days when I emailed about my PFL status.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling your local EDD office directly. Sometimes they can help or at least give you more info on your application status.

•This! 👆 Local offices are the way to go. They're usually less swamped and more helpful.

•@profile 11 Google '[Your City] EDD office'. Most have their numbers listed online. If not, try your county's website.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do to check on your PFL application status: • First, double-check that you've completed all parts of your application. Sometimes people miss a form or two. • Next, log into your EDD account online. Sometimes there are updates there that you won't get in the mail. • If it's been more than 2 weeks since you applied, definitely try to contact them. The phone lines open at 8:00 AM, so set your alarm for 7:55 and start dialing at 7:59:59. • Be prepared with all your info - SSN, application date, employer details, etc. The more prepared you are, the quicker the call will go if you get through. • If all else fails, reach out to your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can inquire on your behalf. Remember, patience is key here. The system is overwhelmed, but keep at it. You'll get your answers eventually!

anyone else feel like the whole PFL system is designed to be as confusing as possible? its like they dont want us to actually use the benefit we pay into 🙄

•Preach! 🙌 I swear they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from applying.

•It's not just PFL, the entire EDD is a mess. They need a complete overhaul of their systems and processes.

Hey OP, how long ago did you submit your application? Sometimes it can take a few weeks before you hear anything back.

•It's been about 3 weeks now. I guess I'm just getting anxious because I need to plan around the potential leave.

•Ah gotcha. Yeah, 3 weeks is definitely long enough to warrant following up. Hope you get some answers soon!

Have you checked your spam folder? I know it sounds dumb, but I found my PFL approval letter in there after weeks of waiting lol
