Missed EDD call about PFL application - What now?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my PFL application. I submitted all the docs but missed a call from EDD about it. Now I'm worried if everything is in order or if they need more info. Has anyone been through this? What should I do next?

Ugh, been there done that. EDD's communication is a nightmare! 🙄 Have you tried calling them back? Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho...

Yeah, I've been trying to get through but no luck so far. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. Sometimes you can get through faster that way.

Good idea! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

Check your online account if you haven't already. Sometimes they update the status there or leave messages about missing docs.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep...

True, but for me it was worth it to finally get answers. Time is money, ya know?

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in your account.

Good call! I'll double-check everything. Thanks for the tip!

Okay, listen up. I've been through this rodeo before, so here's what you need to do: 1. Don't panic. Missed calls happen, and it's not the end of the world. 2. Try calling them back ASAP. Use the number on your application confirmation if you have it. 3. If you can't get through (which is likely), send a message through your online account. Be specific about your situation. 4. Double-check all your documents. Make sure everything is legible and properly filled out. 5. If you have a disability coordinator at work, reach out to them. They might have insights or be able to help. 6. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. This can be useful if there are delays. 7. If all else fails, consider contacting your local state representative's office. They sometimes can help push things through. Remember, the EDD is swamped, so patience is key. But don't let that stop you from being proactive. Good luck!

Wow, this is super helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out. I'll definitely follow these steps.

This should be pinned or something. Solid advice right here! 👏

ain't that the truth 😭 feels like we're all stuck in this endless bureaucratic nightmare

Has anyone else noticed that EDD seems to be getting worse lately? I swear it wasn't this bad a few years ago.

Totally agree. I think the pandemic really overwhelmed their systems and they never fully recovered.

Yeah, plus all the budget cuts haven't helped. They're trying to do more with less.

Quick question - did you submit your application online or by mail? I've heard the online ones get processed faster.

0 coins

I did it online. Hoping that speeds things up a bit!

Hang in there, OP! The PFL process can be a real headache, but it's worth it in the end. Just keep at it and don't let the bureaucracy get you down. 💪

I went through something similar last month! Don't stress too much - they usually call back if it's something urgent. In the meantime, definitely check your online account like others mentioned. Also, if you have the reference number from when you submitted, you can try calling the PFL line directly (1-877-238-4373) and reference that number. They might be able to tell you what the call was about without you having to wait for them to call back. Good luck! 🍀

Thanks for sharing that number! I've been looking everywhere for a direct PFL line. Did you have to wait long when you called, or were you able to get through pretty quickly?

Another thing you can try is faxing a follow-up letter to their PFL department explaining that you missed their call and requesting they contact you again or provide written guidance on next steps. Sometimes written communication gets processed faster than phone calls. The fax number should be on your original application paperwork. Make sure to include your full name, SSN, and case/reference number if you have one. I had to do this once and got a response within a week!

That's a great idea about faxing! I never thought of that approach. Do you remember roughly how long it took for them to respond to your fax? And did they end up calling you back or just send written instructions? I'm trying to figure out the best way to move forward with my situation.

I missed an EDD call too about 6 months ago and was totally panicked! Here's what worked for me: I sent a secure message through my EDD online account explaining that I missed their call and asking what they needed. They responded within 3 business days with exactly what documents were missing from my application. Turned out it was just a clearer copy of my doctor's certification form. Sometimes the missed call is just a routine follow-up, not necessarily a major issue with your case. Also, make sure your voicemail is set up and not full - they might try calling again! Keep us posted on how it goes! 🤞

This is really reassuring to hear! I was imagining the worst case scenario, but you're right - it could just be something routine. I'll definitely send a secure message through my account today. Thanks for sharing your experience and for the reminder about checking my voicemail setup. Sometimes the simple things slip your mind when you're stressed! 😅
