PFL claim filed 3 weeks ago, no update from EDD. Need advice on questions to ask when I finally reach a live agent.

I filed my PFL claim 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back from EDD. The only update on the My EDD website is that my claim is being processed. I really need to talk to someone about this. Has anyone else had this problem? What questions should I ask when I finally get through to a live person?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. Here are some questions you should definitely ask: 1. What's the current status of my claim? 2. How long will it take to get my benefits? 3. Do you need any more info from me to speed things up? Good luck!

Thanks so much! Those are great questions. I'll make sure to ask all of those when I finally get through.

I'd also ask if there's any way to expedite the process. Sometimes they have options for people in dire financial situations.

Good point! I forgot about that. Definitely worth asking if you're in a tight spot.

3 weeks? That's nothing. I've been waiting for 2 months now. The system is completely broken. 🤬

Seriously? 2 months? That's insane! Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

Yeah, I tried that last week. Still waiting to hear back. It's like shouting into the void at this point.

Hey everyone, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to your phone. It costs $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

Idk man, paying to talk to a government agency? Seems sketchy.

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with EDD and PFL claims: 1. Be persistent. Keep calling and checking your online account. 2. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and online updates. 3. Have all your paperwork ready. They might ask for additional documents at any time. 4. Know your rights. Familiarize yourself with PFL regulations. 5. Consider reaching out to your local assembly member or state senator. They can sometimes help expedite claims. 6. Join Facebook groups or forums dedicated to PFL claims. You can get a lot of up-to-date info from others going through the same process. 7. If you're in dire need, ask about hardship options when you speak to a rep. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but you'll get through it.

This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit. So much useful info!

have you tried faxing your claim? I know it sounds old school, but I've heard it can sometimes get faster results.

OMG YES!!! 🙌 I'm dealing with the exact same thing rn. It's so frustrating. Sending good vibes your way, OP! We're all in this together. 💪

Thanks for the support! It helps to know I'm not alone in this. Good luck with your claim too!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold last week. Also, be super nice to the rep, even if you're frustrated. They deal with angry people all day and are more likely to go the extra mile if you're kind.

This! 💯 Being nice goes a long way. These reps are just doing their job and probably hate the system as much as we do.

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "undergoing maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🙄

LOL for real tho. It's like they know exactly when I'm gonna log in and decide to do updates 😂

Conspiracy theory: the website is never actually under maintenance. They just put that up when too many people are trying to access it at once. 🤔

Hey OP, what industry do you work in? I've heard some industries are getting processed faster than others.

I work in healthcare. I thought that might speed things up, but apparently not. 🤷‍♂️

Huh, that's surprising. You'd think healthcare workers would be prioritized. The system makes no sense sometimes.
