PFL claim filed 8+ weeks ago, no response from EDD. When to expect first payment?
Hey everyone, I filed for PFL over 8 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back from EDD. I'm getting worried because I haven't received any payments yet. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get the first check? I'm wondering if I need to provide any additional information or if there's something I can do to speed up the process. It's been radio silence from their end and I'm starting to get anxious about my finances. Any advice or similar experiences would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. It's frustrating how slow the system can be. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or they hang up on me 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way!

8 weeks is way too long! Normally, PFL payments should be processed within 2 weeks after approval. Sounds like something might be wrong with your claim. Definitely try to get in touch with them ASAP.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep just to talk to someone...

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there without sending notifications. Also, make sure you didn't miss any mail from them requesting additional docs.

The EDD is a joke 🤡 I swear they're purposely making it hard for us to get our benefits. The whole system needs an overhaul!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your online account for any updates or requests for information. 2. Review all mail carefully - sometimes they send important docs that look like junk mail. 3. Try calling first thing in the morning when they open. 4. If you can't get through, consider using a paid service like Claimyr to connect with an agent. 5. Prepare a list of questions before you talk to someone, including your claim number and filing date. 6. Ask about the status of your claim, reason for delay, and if they need any additional information. 7. Request expedited processing due to financial hardship if applicable. 8. Get the name and ID of the person you speak with, and notes on what was discussed. 9. Follow up with an email summarizing your call for documentation. 10. If still no resolution, consider contacting your local state representative for assistance. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system can be frustrating, but keep at it and you'll get your benefits eventually. Good luck!

Has anyone else noticed that EDD seems to be slower lately? I've been hearing a lot of similar stories about delays. Wonder if they're short-staffed or something.

•Yeah, I read somewhere that they had budget cuts recently. Probably impacting processing times.
