PFL application stuck in EDD limbo for 2 weeks - rent due soon, need help!

I submitted my PFL application 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back from EDD. My rent is due this weekend and I really need the application processed ASAP. Has anyone else experienced delays like this? Any advice on how to speed things up?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. It took them almost 3 weeks to process my application. Have you tried calling their customer service line? It's a pain to get through, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call all week but can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤 Did you have any luck when you called?

Yeah, it took me like 50 tries over 3 days to finally get someone on the line. Keep at it, eventually you'll get through. Good luck!

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. That's how I finally got through after days of trying.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

I get the skepticism, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Can confirm, I used it last week and got through in like 30 minutes. Total game changer.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before sending any notifications.

Two weeks is actually pretty normal these days. The EDD is swamped with applications. I know it sucks, but you might just have to wait it out. Maybe talk to your landlord and see if you can get an extension on your rent?

Yeah, I'm gonna have to try that. Just hate having to beg for more time. This whole system is so broken 😫

Landlords can be understanding if you explain the situation. Most would rather work with you than lose a tenant. Good luck!

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for PFL claims: 1. Always submit your claim online if possible. It's faster than mail. 2. Make sure ALL required documents are included. Missing docs can cause major delays. 3. Double-check your application for errors before submitting. 4. If you haven't heard back in 10 business days, start calling. 5. Use the online portal to check your claim status regularly. 6. If you're really stuck, contact your state representative's office. They can sometimes expedite things. 7. Keep detailed records of all your interactions with EDD. Hope this helps! Hang in there, the system is slow but it does work eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my state rep if I don't hear back soon.

Have you tried faxing your application? I know it sounds old school, but sometimes it gets processed faster that way.
