PFL application not showing on EDD website after 3 weeks - What to do?

I applied for PFL 3 weeks ago but nothing is showing up on the EDD website. I really need the money to pay for this month's expenses. What should I do if I don't hear back today? Will my application carry over to the next business day?

I found a way to solve EDD application delays and callbacks, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9qPWaz9fUE

Yeah, typically if you don't get a callback on the same day, your application will roll over to the next business day. But man, waiting 3 weeks with no update? That's rough. Have you tried calling them directly?

I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Same boat here. Been calling for days and always get the 'too busy' message. EDD needs to get their act together!

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I managed to get through once doing that. Good luck!

3 weeks is actually not that long in EDD time lol. I waited 2 months before I saw anything on my account. The system is beyond broken at this point.

2 months?! That's insane. How did you manage to pay your bills?

It was tough. Had to borrow from family and max out my credit cards. Not ideal, but what can you do? 🤷‍♂️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy...

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Just tried it and got through in 30 minutes! This is a game changer 🙌

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep checking your EDD account daily. Sometimes updates appear without notification. 2. Try calling early in the morning or late afternoon. Those are usually less busy times. 3. If you can't get through, consider using an auto-dialer or a service like Claimyr (as mentioned in another comment). 4. Document everything. Keep a log of when you applied, any correspondence, and your attempts to contact them. 5. Reach out to your local assembly member's office. They can often help push things along. 6. Check if you filled out all forms correctly. A small mistake can cause delays. 7. Be patient (I know it's hard). The system is overwhelmed, but they will get to your application. Hang in there. I know it's stressful, but you will get your benefits eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try reaching out to my assembly member.

This is great advice. Wish I had known about the assembly member thing months ago!

Ugh, EDD is such a joke. They expect us to live on air while they take their sweet time? 🙄 The whole system needs an overhaul.

Preach! 👏 It's like they forget we have bills to pay and families to feed.

Has anyone had luck with the EDD's online chat feature? I've heard mixed things.

I tried it once. Waited 2 hours to connect, then got disconnected. Never again lol

It worked for me! But you gotta be quick. The slots fill up fast in the morning.

I'm dealing with something similar - applied for PFL about 2 weeks ago and still nothing showing up in my account. The waiting is killing me financially! I've been trying the early morning call strategy mentioned here, but even at 8am sharp I get the busy signal. Has anyone had success with filing a complaint or escalating through other channels? I'm wondering if there's a way to at least get confirmation that they received the application properly.

I'm in a very similar situation! Applied about the same time and also getting nowhere with the phone calls. One thing I found helpful was creating a timeline document with screenshots of my application submission confirmation (if you have it) and keeping track of all my call attempts. Some people have mentioned filing a complaint with the state labor commissioner if EDD doesn't respond within their stated timeframes. Also, try the assembly member route that CosmicCruiser mentioned - I've heard they can actually get through to EDD when regular folks can't. Hang in there, we'll get through this! 💪

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my PFL application 2.5 weeks ago and absolutely nothing in my online account. It's so stressful when you're counting on that money. I've been following some of the advice here - tried calling at 8am on the dot but still can't get through. One thing that helped me a little was checking if my employer submitted their portion correctly (if applicable). Sometimes delays happen on their end too. Also keeping screenshots of everything and documenting all my attempts to contact them. Really considering trying that Claimyr service even though I'm skeptical about paying for something that should be free. This whole system is just broken. Sending you solidarity - we shouldn't have to jump through these hoops when we're already dealing with family situations that qualify us for PFL in the first place! 😔

I feel you on this! Just went through the same nightmare with my PFL application. What helped me was actually going to my local EDD office in person - I know it's a pain, but sometimes face-to-face gets better results than the phone maze. Also, if you haven't already, try reaching out to your state senator's office too, not just assembly member. They have caseworkers specifically for EDD issues. And definitely keep pushing on that employer portion - my delay turned out to be because my HR department never submitted their part even though they said they did. The whole thing is incredibly frustrating when you're already dealing with family stuff. Hope you get some movement soon! 🤞
