No response from EDD on PFL claim since February - What to do?
I applied for paid family leave back in February and haven't heard anything from EDD since. No notifications, no updates on the website, nothing. It's been months and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this kind of silence from EDD? What should I do next? I'm not sure if I should keep waiting or if there's something else I can do to check on my claim status.

I found a way to solve EDD paid family leave delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Jy8itW5uXc

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

β’Wait, what? You're telling me there's a service that waits on hold for you? That sounds too good to be true. How does it even work?

β’$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous! We shouldn't have to pay extra just to get basic information about our claims.

β’I know it sounds crazy, but it really does work. You just enter your phone number, and they call you when they get an agent. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny IMO.

β’Claimyr is a great tool for those who can afford it, but it's unfortunate that we need to resort to such services. The system should be more user-friendly!

I swear, dealing with EDD is like trying to teach a cat to swim. Theoretically possible, but in reality... good luck! π±πββοΈ

β’That is such an apt analogy! Dealing with them sometimes feels like attempting the impossible.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents to EDD? I know it sounds like something from the stone age, but I've heard it can actually be faster than mailing or uploading online.

β’Faxing? What year is it, 1995? π But for real, if it works, I'm willing to try anything at this point.

β’I actually tried this! It didn't speed things up for me, but at least I knew they received my docs. Worth a shot, I guess.

β’Sometimes, older methods can bypass the digital backlog. If it works, why not give it a try?

have you checked your spam folder? sometimes edd emails end up there. just a thought.

β’Great point! Always check the spam folder, especially with important claims like these.

Ugh, the EDD website is such a joke. I swear it's designed to be as unhelpful as possible. Have you tried logging in and checking your claim status there? Sometimes they update it without sending notifications.

β’Yeah, I've been checking the website regularly. Still nothing. It's like my claim disappeared into a black hole or something.

β’Same here! The website is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine π

β’It can be frustrating, but keep trying! Sometimes the updates are delayed and suddenly pop up when you least expect it.

unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just get jobs instead of waiting for handouts π€·ββοΈ

β’Wow, way to completely misunderstand the purpose of paid family leave. It's not a handout, it's a benefit we've paid into.

β’Paid family leave is there for essential reasons; it's not about not wanting to work.

Here's what you need to do, step by step: 1. Document everything. Write down the date you applied, any confirmation numbers you received, and keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Try calling first thing in the morning, right when they open. The hold times are usually shorter then. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, send a message through your EDD online account. Be polite but firm, and ask for a specific update on your claim status. 4. Reach out to your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 5. Consider filing a complaint with the state if you continue to get no response. Sometimes this can light a fire under them. 6. Keep checking your mail and email religiously. Sometimes they send important updates through snail mail. 7. Don't give up! It's frustrating, but persistence is key when dealing with EDD. Good luck, and keep us posted!

β’Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start working through these steps. Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out.

β’All these steps really help to feel in control of the situation, even if the response is slower than we'd like. Thanks for sharing!

Guys, I think I figured it out. We need to start a band called "EDD on Hold" and write songs about our experiences. At least then we'd be making some money while we wait for our benefits πΈπ€

Welcome to EDD hell, my friend. I've been in the same boat for what feels like forever. Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare, but sometimes it's the only way to get answers.

β’I haven't tried calling yet. Is it really that bad? How long did you have to wait on hold?

β’Oh honey, you have no idea. I spent 3 hours on hold last week only to get disconnected. It's like they're playing a sick joke on us π€‘

β’I totally agree, calling is a nightmare, but sometimes you can get lucky. Try calling right when they open to minimize wait times.

Hey OP, just wanted to say don't lose hope. I was in your exact situation a few months ago, and it eventually got sorted out. It sucks, but sometimes persistence pays off. Keep pushing!

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD seems to work faster for some people than others? My neighbor got her benefits in like two weeks, but I've been waiting for months. What gives?
0 coins
Effie Alexander
β’It probably depends on the type of claim and how complicated it is. Some are just easier to process, I guess.

β’I've heard that too! It's so frustrating. Makes me wonder if there's some kind of priority system we don't know about.

β’There's definitely a lot of variability. Maybe it's also about workload or regional differences in processing speed.

Pro tip: if you're gonna call EDD, make sure you have snacks, a full phone battery, and maybe a good book. You're gonna be there a while, trust me.

β’I'd go with something crunchy but not too loud. Don't wanna miss it when they finally pick up! Maybe some quiet chips or crackers π

It sounds like Claimyr might be a useful tool if you're really struggling to get through to EDD. However, it's a shame we need third-party services to navigate a government system. Remember to weigh the cost and ensure it's the right option for you. Besides, continue using the free methods listed by others like documenting everything, calling at the right times, contacting representatives, and more.

Tyrone Hill
β’Totally agree! It's useful, but the need for it highlights the system's shortcomings.

I'm telling you, the whole system is rigged against us. They make it impossible to get help on purpose. It's all a big scam to avoid paying out benefits. Wake up, sheeple! πππ

β’Calm down, Alex Jones. Not everything is a conspiracy. The system sucks, but it's probably just incompetence, not malice.

β’Oh yeah? Then explain why they can't even update a simple website? It's 2023, for crying out loud! They're doing this on purpose, I'm telling you.

β’I get your frustration! But usually, it's under-resourced departments struggling to keep up. Let's hope they improve soon.
