Expedia can't find my reservation to cancel it - no itinerary number. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having a nightmare trying to cancel my reservation. I've provided all the information to chat support, but they still can't locate my booking. I don't have the itinerary number either. Any advice on how to get this sorted?

I found a way to solve cancelling Expedia reservation without itinerary, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErEd80uX3jI

Ugh, been there done that. Expedia's chat support can be useless sometimes. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes talking to a real person helps.

•Yeah, I've been avoiding calling cuz I hate being on hold forever. But maybe I'll have to bite the bullet 😩

•Pro tip: call early in the morning or late at night. Less wait time usually.

•Or try their social media. Sometimes they respond faster on Twitter or Facebook.

Did you book directly through Expedia or was it a third-party thing? That can make a difference in how they handle cancellations.

I had a similar issue last month. Here's what worked for me: 1. Double-check your email for ANY confirmation from Expedia, even if it's not the itinerary. 2. If you used a credit card, find the transaction details. The date and amount can help them locate your booking. 3. Ask them to search by your name, travel dates, and destination. 4. If all else fails, ask to speak with a supervisor. They have more tools to find 'lost' reservations. 5. Be patient but persistent. It's frustrating, but they should be able to find it eventually. Good luck!

lol welcome to the wonderful world of Expedia 🤡 where your reservation exists in a quantum state of both booked and not booked until you observe it

Have you tried logging into your Expedia account on their website? Sometimes you can cancel directly from there without dealing with customer service.

•I tried that first actually. No luck :( The reservation isn't showing up there either

•Oof, sounds like you're in for a fun time with customer service then. Grab a snack and put on some calming music before you call 😅

I found a method to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Af8Ce_c-DL8

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yep, it really does! Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•Idk man, paying to talk to customer service feels wrong. Shouldn't companies just have better support?

•I get that, but when you're desperate and time is money, sometimes it's worth it. To each their own tho!

This is why I always screenshot my confirmations now. Learned that lesson the hard way ðŸ˜

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes important emails end up there. Also, try searching your email for 'Expedia' or the hotel/airline name.

•Good idea! Just checked and no luck in spam. But I'll try searching for the hotel name, maybe that'll turn up something

If you booked through a travel agent or used a booking site other than Expedia directly, that could be why they can't find it in their system. Also, try checking if you have any text messages from Expedia - sometimes they send booking confirmations via SMS too. Another trick is to check your bank/credit card statement for the exact date and amount of the charge, then ask customer service to search by those details. Hope this helps!

•This is really helpful advice! I hadn't thought about checking text messages. I'm going to dig through my phone and bank statements now. Thanks for the thorough suggestions!

This might sound weird, but try searching for any auto-generated passwords or temporary booking references in your email. Sometimes Expedia sends those in separate emails that don't look like typical confirmations. Also, if you used Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal, check those transaction histories - they sometimes store booking details that can help customer service track it down. I had to do this dance with them last year and it was painful, but persistence pays off!
