Expedia virtual assistant cancelled my non-refundable rooms! How to fix?

I'm so frustrated right now. I booked 3 non-refundable rooms for a trip and now the hotel is saying they were cancelled. I definitely didn't cancel them! I paid in full already. When I called customer service, their virtual assistant messed everything up. Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you get it fixed? I really need those rooms!

I found a way to solve cancelled hotel booking issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfOUxHDcL7c

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar issue last month. Have you tried calling the hotel directly? Sometimes they can see more details than the booking site.

I tried calling the hotel but they just kept referring me back to the booking site. It's like a never-ending loop 😫

Classic runaround. These companies love to play hot potato with our problems 🙄

Oof, that's rough. Maybe try escalating to a manager at the booking site? Sometimes they have more power to fix things.

I've been in the same boat, its so frustrating! Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Save all emails, confirmation numbers, and payment receipts. 2. Call the booking site again and ask to speak with a supervisor immediately. 3. Be polite but firm. Explain that you have proof of payment and never cancelled. 4. If they can't help, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. 5. As a last resort, dispute the charge with your credit card company if they won't reinstate your reservation. Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try these steps. Fingers crossed it works 🤞

This is solid advice. I'd add one more thing - use social media! Sometimes tweeting at the company can get faster results.

Have you checked your email spam folder? Sometimes important messages end up there. Just a thought!

Good idea, but I already checked. No luck there 😕

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Af8Ce_c-DL8

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time.

$20 seems steep just to talk to someone. These companies should do better 😤

I get that, but for me, my time is worth more than $20. Plus, the stress it saved me was priceless lol

This is why I always screenshot my confirmations. Can't trust these systems not to glitch 🤦‍♂️

have u tried DMing them on twitter? sometimes that works for me

I haven't! That's a good idea, I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Oh no, this exact thing happened to me last year! The virtual assistant somehow triggered a cancellation when I was just trying to ask a simple question about my booking. What saved me was immediately calling back and asking for the "customer recovery team" - they're specifically trained to handle these AI mishaps. Also, make sure you mention that you have proof of payment and never initiated any cancellation. They can usually see the system logs showing it was an error. Don't give up - you paid for those rooms and they owe you a solution!

This is super helpful! I didn't know there was a specific "customer recovery team" - that sounds like exactly what I need. I'm definitely going to try calling and asking for them specifically. It's reassuring to hear from someone who went through the same thing and got it resolved. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
