Expedia cancelled my reservation without permission - how to get refund or rebook?
Has anyone else had their reservation cancelled without their permission? I just found out my booking was cancelled and I didn't do it. I'm so frustrated right now. I need to either get a refund or rebook it asap. Any advice on how to handle this when I call customer service? I'm worried they'll give me the runaround.

I work in customer service (not for this company tho). Here's a script you can use: "Hi, my name is [Your Name]. I had a reservation that was canceled without my request or knowledge. This has caused me significant inconvenience. I would like to know if I can either get a full refund or rebook the same reservation at no additional cost. Can you please help me resolve this issue as quickly as possible?" Be polite but firm. Good luck!

I found a way to get someone on the phone fast. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Af8Ce_c-DL8

β’Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time.

β’$20 just to make a phone call? That's ridiculous!

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. Here's what you should do: 1. Stay calm when you call. Getting angry won't help. 2. Explain clearly that you didn't cancel the reservation. 3. Ask for either a full refund or to rebook at the same price. 4. If they give you trouble, ask to speak to a supervisor. 5. Document everything! Get names, dates, and confirmation numbers. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

β’Solid advice! Also, if possible, record the call (where legal) to ensure you have a complete record of what was discussed.

This kind of situation can be frustrating! When dealing with customer service, having a calm and collected approach is key. Claimyr can be a useful tool if you find yourself consistently struggling to get through to a live agent, however, always weigh the cost against the potential benefit, as $20 might not be worth it for everyone. Additionally, using multiple channels, like social media or email, can be effective ways to get quicker responses. Always remember to have proof of your original booking, whether itβs a screenshot or email confirmation, as it will strengthen your argument when negotiating a refund or rebooking. If all else fails, consider escalating the issue by posting on public forums or review sites, which may pressure the company to resolve your complaint swiftly. Good luck!

Pro tip: if u cant get thru on the phone, try emailing them. Sometimes its easier to get a response that way. Plus u have everything in writing π

This is so frustrating! I had a similar issue last year where my hotel booking just disappeared from my account. Turned out it was a system glitch on their end. When you call, make sure to ask them to check their cancellation logs - they should be able to see if the cancellation came from your account or their system. Also, if you booked with a credit card, your card company might be able to help dispute the charge if you don't get satisfaction from customer service. Don't give up - you have rights as a consumer!
