EDD card fraud: Money stolen, not fully refunded. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm freaking out right now. Someone took money off my EDD card without my permission. I didn't get all the money back that was stolen. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do?

I found a way to solve EDD card fraud issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWJLFiZ8EtM

Ugh, that sucks man. I've been there. First thing you gotta do is call EDD and report the fraud. They should be able to help you get your money back.

Thanks for the advice. I've been trying to call them all day but can't get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have to try a few days in a row, but it's the best way to get through.

Calling EDD is like playing the lottery lol. Good luck OP! 🍀

This happened to me last year. It's a nightmare to deal with, but don't give up! Here's what you need to do: 1. Report the fraud to EDD immediately 2. File a police report 3. Contact Bank of America (they handle EDD cards) and dispute the charges 4. Keep all your documentation 5. Be prepared to follow up... a lot It took me about 3 months, but I eventually got all my money back. Stay persistent!

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed steps. Did you have any trouble getting through to EDD?

Oh yeah, it was a total pain. I probably called 50+ times before I got through. But once I did, they were actually pretty helpful.

This is why I always transfer my EDD money to my personal bank account ASAP. Those cards are not secure at all.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's steep when ur already struggling with EDD issues 😬

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own.

The whole EDD system is a joke. They can't even protect our money. smh 🤦‍♂️

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're stuck in the stone age or sumthin

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD.

This is why we need blockchain technology for government benefits. It would be so much more secure.

Ok boomer 🙄 Blockchain isn't the answer to everything

You clearly don't understand the potential. Educate yourself.

Whatever dude. OP needs real solutions, not crypto fantasies.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! EDD card fraud is unfortunately really common. In addition to what others have said, make sure you also: - Change your PIN immediately if you haven't already - Check if there are any other unauthorized transactions you might have missed - Ask EDD about getting a replacement card sent to a secure address - Consider setting up account alerts if that's an option The key is to document EVERYTHING - dates, times, reference numbers from calls, names of representatives you speak with. This paper trail will be crucial if you need to escalate. Don't let them brush you off if they don't refund the full amount the first time. You have rights as a victim of fraud! Stay strong and keep pushing. It's frustrating but you will get through this. 💪

This is such helpful advice! I especially appreciate the tip about documenting everything. I learned this the hard way when dealing with my own EDD issues last year. One thing I'd add - if you can, try to get email confirmations for any phone calls or disputes you file. Having that paper trail in writing really helped speed up my case. Thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough response! 🙏

Hey Liam, I feel for you - this exact thing happened to me about 6 months ago and it was such a stressful experience. The good news is that you CAN get your money back, but you'll need to be really persistent. Here's what worked for me: I called EDD first thing in the morning (like 8 AM sharp) and kept redial-ing until I got through. It took about 2 hours of calling, but I finally reached someone. They opened a fraud investigation and gave me a case number - make sure you get one! Then I also called Bank of America's EDD card customer service line (1-866-692-9374) and filed a dispute claim there too. Having both EDD and BoA working on it from different angles seemed to speed things up. The whole process took about 6 weeks, but I got every penny back. The key is don't give up and keep calling for updates every week or so. I know it's exhausting but you've got this! Also, once you get your money back, definitely transfer it to your personal bank account right away like Emma mentioned. These cards are way too vulnerable to fraud. Hope this helps and hang in there! 💪
