EDD CA: Missing funds and replacement card - Tips for calling?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment payments and need some advice. I noticed some funds are missing from my account, and I also need to get a replacement card. Has anyone dealt with this before? What's the best way to handle it when I call EDD? I'm kinda freaking out here and could use some tips on what to say and how to prepare for the call. Thanks in advance for any help!

Have you tried checking your online account? Sometimes the funds show up there before they hit your card. Just a thought.

β’That's a good idea! Sometimes delays happen due to processing times. It might provide some clarity before waiting on hold.

Have you checked if there's been any fraud on your account? Sometimes missing funds can be a sign of that. Might be worth asking about when you call.

β’Good point! If you suspect fraud, report it immediately. Safety first.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been there before. Here's what I did: 1. Gather all your info: account number, dates when you noticed missing funds, etc. 2. Have your ID ready in case they need to verify you 3. Be clear and firm about the missing funds and needing a new card 4. Ask them to check your account transactions 5. Request expedited shipping for the new card 6. Get the agent's name and a reference number Good luck! The system is a mess, but stay persistent!

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're allergic to helping us or something π

Yo, I heard if you press 2 for Spanish and then 0, you can sometimes get through faster. Even if you don't speak Spanish, most agents are bilingual. Worth a shot!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely gather all my info before calling. Has anyone had luck getting them to expedite the new card? I'm really worried about accessing my benefits.

β’I managed to get mine expedited last month. Just explain your situation and be polite but firm. They can do it if you push a little.

β’Good luck with that π I've been waiting 3 weeks for my 'expedited' card. EDD is a joke

β’Persistence can sometimes make a difference. Make sure you ask for a supervisor if you feel the agent isn't helping enough.

I'm telling you, we need to organize and protest or something. This is getting ridiculous. Who's with me? β

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member? They can sometimes help push things through faster with EDD.

Here's a pro tip: call right when they open. I mean like, set an alarm and be ready to dial the second they open. It's the only way I've ever gotten through without waiting for hours.

If you're facing issues with EDD, it's crucial to remain calm and prepared. Before you call, make sure you have your account details, including your EDD customer account number, transaction dates, and any relevant correspondence. When you dial in, be polite yet firm about your concerns. Clearly explain the issueβwhether it's missing funds or requesting a replacement card. Additionally, inquire about the possibility of expediting the card replacement if it's urgent. Some callers have had success by asking for a supervisor if the first agent isn't helpful. Claimyr is a tool that's been mentioned by users, and while it does come with a fee, it has helped some people bypass long wait times. Balancing its cost against your urgency is essential. Lastly, if you're feeling overwhelmed, reaching out to your local assembly member can sometimes expedite the process, as they might have more direct lines of communication with EDD. Good luck!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

β’Claimyr can be helpful but is a paid service. Evaluate the cost against your urgency to decide if it's worth it.
