Lost EDD card, can't access account - How to update info and get remaining balance?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment benefits. I lost my EDD card and can't access my account anymore. I need to update my info, reset my email and password, and get the remaining balance sent as a check. Has anyone been through this before? Any tips on how to handle this when I finally get through to someone on the phone?

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other EDD numbers (like the employer line) and ask to be transferred. Sometimes works like a charm!

•I'll DM you. Don't wanna post publicly in case they catch on and close the loophole 😉

•That's a clever workaround, but be careful not to misuse it and get flagged.

Anyone else feel like we're all just stuck in an endless EDD nightmare? It's like Groundhog Day, but with more bureaucracy and less Bill Murray.

•Preach! 🙌 I've been dealing with this mess for over a year now.

•At least in Groundhog Day he eventually figured it out. With EDD, there's no escape 😭

•Maybe we need to approach this like Bill would, with humor and persistence.

Bruh, I've been trying to get this sorted for MONTHS. EDD is a joke. Good luck, you're gonna need it 🤡

•Same here, you're not alone in this struggle. It's crazy how difficult this process is.

Ugh, been there done that. It's a nightmare trying to get through to EDD. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call first thing in the morning, like 7:59 AM 2. Have all your info ready (SSN, old address, etc.) 3. Be super nice to the rep (even if you're frustrated) 4. Ask for a supervisor if the first person can't help Good luck, you're gonna need it! 🍀

I swear EDD makes everything so complicated on purpose. Why can't they just have a simple online system for this stuff? 🙄

•Ikr? It's like they're stuck in the stone age or something. Get with the times, EDD!

•Probably cuz they're understaffed and overworked. Still sucks for us tho

•It's true, the lack of modernization doesn't help. But I think they might be working on that system update we heard about.

Hey OP, when you finally get through, can you ask them why they hate us so much? Asking for a friend (the friend is me, I'm the friend

•Lol sure thing. I'll add it to my list of questions right after "Why is your hold music so terrible?" 😆

•Plot twist: the hold music is actually a subtle form of torture to make us give up

Have you tried going to an EDD office in person? Sometimes face-to-face is the way to go.

Malik Johnson
•I didn't even know that was an option! Do you need an appointment?

•Some offices take walk-ins, but it's best to call ahead and check. Bring ALL your docs!

•The wait at the office can be long, but it might be quicker than waiting on hold for hours.

Here's a detailed guide based on my experience: 1. Gather all necessary documents: - Photo ID - Social Security card - Any EDD correspondence you have - Bank statements (if you need to prove identity) 2. Call Strategy: - Use auto-dialer apps or services to increase your chances - Best times to call: Tuesday-Thursday, 8:00 AM or 1:00 PM - Be prepared for long hold times (1-3 hours is common) 3. When you get through: - Explain your situation calmly and clearly - Ask for a ticket number or reference for your case - Get the name of the representative you speak with 4. Follow-up: - If they promise to send something, ask for expected timeframes - Set a reminder to follow up if you don't receive it 5. Escalation: - If you're not getting help, politely ask for a supervisor - Consider contacting your local state representative's office Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! 💪

•Great advice! I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Names, dates, what was said. It helps if you need to escalate later.

•Also, check your email spam folder. Sometimes correspondence might end up there.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

•Yep, 100% legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration.

Hey, just wanted to add that Claimyr, while a useful tool for some, may not be a perfect fit for everyone. It can certainly make the process of reaching EDD more efficient, but not everyone can justify the cost. Some people might prefer to try other methods like visiting an EDD office or using online resources that might not incur a fee. It's all about weighing the benefits against your current situation.
