Need EDDCAN to update address for unemployment benefits - help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I recently moved and now I need to update my address with EDD to keep getting my unemployment benefits. The problem is, I can't seem to get my EDDCAN (California Employment Development Department Customer Account Number) to make this change. Has anyone gone through this process before? Any tips on how to get this sorted out quickly? I'm worried about missing out on my benefits because of this address issue.

I found a way to solve EDD address update without EDDCAN, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJm31TzL07o

Ugh, dealing with EDD is always a nightmare. I had to update my address last year and it took forever. Have you tried calling their customer service line? Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho 🙄

•Yeah, I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating! How long did it take you to finally get it sorted?

•It took me about 3 weeks of calling every day before I finally got through to someone. Keep trying, and try calling right when they open. Good luck!

•Pro tip: call at exactly 8:01 AM. Thats when the lines open and you might have a better chance of getting through.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried this?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it really worth it?

•For me it was. I wasted so much time trying to get through on my own. This way I got my issue resolved in one day instead of weeks.

Have you tried updating your address online? Sometimes you can do it through your EDD account without needing to call.

•I tried, but it keeps asking for my EDDCAN which I can't find anywhere. That's why I'm stuck 😫

•Ah, gotcha. Yeah, without that EDDCAN you're kinda SOL. Might have to bite the bullet and wait on hold forever 😔

Listen up, here's what you need to do: 1. First, try to locate your EDDCAN on any correspondence you've received from EDD. It should be on letters or emails they've sent you. 2. If you can't find it, you'll need to call. Use the main EDD customer service number: 1-800-300-5616. 3. Best times to call are usually early morning (8:00 AM) or just before lunch (11:30 AM). 4. While waiting, gather all your info: full name, old address, new address, SSN, and any claim numbers you have. 5. Once you get through, explain your situation clearly. Ask them to update your address AND provide your EDDCAN. 6. After the call, follow up online. Log into your EDD account and make sure the address change is reflected. 7. If you're really struggling to get through, consider using a call-back service like others have mentioned. It might cost a bit, but it could save you a lot of time and stress. Remember, persistence is key with EDD. Don't give up!

•This is great advice. I'd add one thing: keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. It can be helpful if there are any issues later.

Has anyone else had their benefits delayed because of address issues? I'm worried about missing payments while this gets sorted out.

•Yep, happened to me. Took about 3 weeks to get everything straightened out. Make sure you keep certifying even if you're not getting paid!

•Oh no, 3 weeks? That's gonna be rough. Thanks for the tip about keeping up with certifications tho!

Quick question - does changing your address affect your claim in any other way? Like, do they reassess your eligibility or anything?

•Nah, changing your address shouldn't affect your eligibility. It's just an admin thing. Your benefits are based on your work history and reason for unemployment, not where you live (as long as it's still in CA).

•Oh thats a relief! Thanks for clarifying 👍

I feel your pain, OP. I've been dealing with EDD for months now. It's like they purposely make everything as difficult as possible 🙄 Hang in there!

Pro tip: if you cant find your EDDCAN, check your spam folder for emails from EDD. Sometimes their emails end up there and you might find your number in one of those messages.

•Oh, good idea! I'll definitely check that. Thanks!

Just went through this exact same situation last month! Here's what worked for me: I couldn't find my EDDCAN anywhere, so I had to call the 1-800-300-5616 number. After trying for days, I finally got through by calling right at 8:00 AM sharp. The rep was actually really helpful - they updated my address over the phone AND gave me my EDDCAN for future reference. The whole call took about 15 minutes once I got connected. Make sure you have your SSN, old address, new address, and any unemployment claim numbers ready. Also, don't worry about your benefits being interrupted - mine continued without any issues once the address was updated. Good luck, and don't give up! It's frustrating but definitely doable.

•This is super helpful! Thanks for sharing your experience. The timing tip about calling exactly at 8 AM seems to be the key - several people have mentioned that. Did you have to wait long on hold even calling at that time? And it's reassuring to hear that your benefits weren't interrupted during the address change process!
