Forgot EDD password AND security question - how to reset account?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I forgot my password and security question for my EDD account. Now I need to get it reset. Has anyone gone through this process before? Any tips on how to get it done quickly? I'm worried about missing important updates or payments.

Ugh, been there done that. EDD's system is such a pain sometimes. Have you tried calling their tech support line? It's usually faster than waiting for an email response.

•I tried calling but kept getting a busy signal. Is there a specific time that's better to call?

•Early morning, right when they open, is usually your best bet. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59 AM lol

•Or try late afternoon. Sometimes the lines clear up a bit before they close.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Have you checked if theres an option to reset your password through email? Some government sites are finally catching up with the times and offering that.

Whatever you do, DON'T create a new account. It'll just complicate things and potentially flag you for fraud. Trust me, I learned the hard way 😭

•Yikes, thanks for the warning! I was actually considering that as a last resort.

•No problem! Yeah, it's tempting but can lead to a whole new world of headaches

Here's what worked for me when I was in the same boat: 1. Call the main EDD number (not the tech support one) 2. Choose the option for general questions about your claim 3. When you get an agent, explain your situation 4. They should be able to verify your identity using other methods (like your SSN, address, etc.) 5. Once verified, they can reset your password and help you set up a new security question It might take a few tries to get through, but this method worked for me. Good luck!

•Can confirm, this method works. Just be prepared to wait on hold for a while.

•Totally agree. It's 2023, why can't they just use 2FA like everyone else? 🤦♂️

Pro tip: Write down your security questions and answers somewhere safe. I keep mine in an encrypted password manager. Saves so much hassle!

Have you tried reaching out to them on Twitter? Sometimes their social media team can point you in the right direction or even help directly.

•I didn't even know they had a Twitter account. I'll check it out, thanks!

If all else fails, you might need to go to an EDD office in person. Its a pain, but sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things sorted with these bureaucratic nightmares.

•This. Bring ALL your documents tho. ID, SSN card, proof of address, everything. Better safe than sorry!

I went through this exact same nightmare last month! Here's what finally worked for me: I called the main EDD number at 8am sharp (1-800-300-5616) and kept pressing 1-2-1 to get to a live person. When I got through, I explained I was locked out of both password and security question. The agent was able to verify my identity using my SSN, birthdate, and some info from my last claim. They reset everything on the spot and walked me through setting up new security questions. The whole call took about 45 minutes once I got through. Don't give up - it's definitely fixable! 💪
