Oof, been there done that. The PFL process is such a headache. Hang in there, OP! It'll get sorted eventually. In the meantime, document EVERYTHING. Every call, email, letter. It'll help if you need to escalate later.
I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my PFL request 3 weeks ago and radio silence. It's so stressful when you're depending on those benefits. I've tried calling multiple times but can never get through - the line just goes busy or I get disconnected after waiting forever. Has anyone had luck reaching out to their local assembly member's office? I heard they sometimes help with EDD issues. Also wondering if there's a specific department or extension that might be less busy than the main number. This whole system really needs to be fixed - we shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops just to get a response! 😤
If all else fails, you might need to go to an EDD office in person. Its a pain, but sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things sorted with these bureaucratic nightmares.
I went through this exact same nightmare last month! Here's what finally worked for me: I called the main EDD number at 8am sharp (1-800-300-5616) and kept pressing 1-2-1 to get to a live person. When I got through, I explained I was locked out of both password and security question. The agent was able to verify my identity using my SSN, birthdate, and some info from my last claim. They reset everything on the spot and walked me through setting up new security questions. The whole call took about 45 minutes once I got through. Don't give up - it's definitely fixable! 💪
Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch a break in the queue.
I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my claim 6 weeks ago and still nothing. The waiting is killing me financially. I've been trying to call every day but can never get through. It's so frustrating when you need the money to survive and there's just radio silence from EDD. Has anyone had any luck with the online chat feature, or is that just as useless as the phone system?
I feel your pain! 6 weeks is way too long. From what I've seen in this thread, the online chat is pretty much useless - most people say it just gives you generic responses or disconnects. Your best bet seems to be either that calling service @Hunter Edmunds mentioned though ($20 is steep or) following @Tyler Lefleur s checklist'above. Have you checked if there are any pending verification issues in your UI Online account? That seems to be a common holdup.
Hey OP, hang in there! I know it feels hopeless rn but you'll get through this. Sending good vibes your way! ❤️
I went through something similar last year and it was incredibly frustrating! Here's what worked for me: 1. **Request your claim details in writing** - Send a formal request to EDD asking for the specific reason for disqualification. They're required to provide this. 2. **Check your UI Online account thoroughly** - Sometimes the reason is buried in the "Claim History" or "Messages" section that's easy to miss. 3. **File an appeal ASAP** - Even if you don't know the exact reason yet, you only have 30 days from the notice date. You can always provide more details later. 4. **Keep a detailed log** - Write down every phone call, every document you send, every interaction. This saved me during my appeal hearing. The most common reasons I've seen in this community are work separation issues (like they think you quit voluntarily) or not meeting the wage requirements. Don't lose hope - many people successfully overturn these decisions once they get their day in court! Feel free to DM me if you need help navigating the appeal process. We've all been there! 💪

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Made a similar date mistake on my PFL application about 3 weeks ago. What I've learned so far: don't stress too much about it - these kinds of errors are apparently pretty common and fixable. I finally got through to someone last week (took literally 47 attempts over 3 days) and they said they see this all the time. They can correct it on their end, but you do need to speak to an actual person. The online messaging system is basically useless for this kind of issue. Keep trying to call, especially right at 8am when they open. Also, have your employment verification documents ready when you do get through - they'll likely ask for proof of your actual last work date. Good luck! 🍀
