SDI Overpayment Repaid - Need to Confirm with Agent but Can't Get Through

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an overpayment issue with SDI and I'm not sure what to do. I already paid back the overpayment yesterday, but now I need to talk to someone at disability SDI to make sure everything is sorted out. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get through to a real person? I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get anyone on the line.

I found a way to solve SDI overpayment communication issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qo6jmSyWpk

Ugh, I feel your pain. The SDI system is a nightmare to navigate. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works for me.

Yeah, I've tried that but no luck. It's like they don't want us to reach them šŸ™„

Pro tip: call at 7:59am and keep hitting redial. Sometimes you can sneak in before the queue fills up.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take to get through using this service?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what you need to know about SDI overpayments: • First, don't panic. It's a common issue and can usually be resolved. • Make sure you keep all documentation related to your payments and the overpayment. • If you've already paid back the overpayment, you're on the right track. • You should receive a notice from EDD confirming the repayment. • If you don't receive this notice within 2 weeks, that's when you need to follow up. • When you do get through to someone, ask for a written confirmation of your repayment. • Also, inquire about any potential penalties or interest. • If you're having trouble reaching someone, try their online portal or send a written request. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much for this detailed response! This is really helpful. I'll definitely follow up if I don't get a notice soon.

I'm in the same boat, been trying to sort out an overpayment for weeks. This system is so broken, it's ridiculous. 🤬

Preach! šŸ™Œ It's like they're stuck in the stone age or something

Quick question - did you get any kind of receipt or confirmation when you made the repayment? Might be helpful to have that on hand when you do get through to someone.

Good point! I did get an email confirmation. I'll make sure to have that ready.

Not to be that guy, but have you tried their website? Sometimes you can set up a callback or send a message through their portal.

Yeah, I've tried that too. The callback option wasn't available and I sent a message but haven't heard back. It's been radio silence šŸ˜ž

pro tip: if u can, go to ur local edd office in person. sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get stuff done with these clowns 🤔

Have you considered reaching out to your local state representative? They sometimes have liaisons who can help navigate these issues.

That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of that. I'll look into it, thanks!

I went through something similar last year with an SDI overpayment. After paying it back, I was stuck in limbo for weeks not knowing if they received it properly. What finally worked for me was sending a certified letter with tracking to their overpayment unit including copies of my payment confirmation and a request for written acknowledgment. It took about 10 business days, but I got an official letter back confirming everything was settled. Way less stressful than trying to get through on the phone! You might want to try that route while you're still attempting to call.

This is such solid advice! I'm definitely going to try the certified letter route. It sounds way more reliable than playing phone tag with them. Did you send it to their main office or is there a specific overpayment unit address? Also, about how much did the whole certified mail process cost you? Thanks for sharing your experience - it gives me hope that there's actually a solution here! šŸ™
