SDI benefits issue after military service - need advice for agent call

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I'm trying to get my SDI benefits sorted out but I'm hitting a wall. I've been paying into SDI before my military service, but now they're giving me trouble. Anyone dealt with this before? What should I say when I finally get through to an agent? I've got all my documents ready, but I'm not sure how to approach this conversation.

Ugh, dealing with SDI can be such a pain. I've been there before. Here's what worked for me: • Be super clear about your situation right off the bat • Tell them you have proof of SDI payments before your service • Stay calm but don't let them brush you off • Ask for a supervisor if the agent isn't helpful Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely try to stay calm. Did you have to provide any specific documents?

Yeah, I had to send in my pay stubs and some tax forms. Make sure you have those ready!

This is solid advice. I'd add: take notes during the call. You might need them later if things get messy.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find my local rep?

Just google '[your city] state representative'. They usually have contact info on their website. Worth a shot!

Hey, fellow vet here. Make sure you mention your military service right away. Sometimes they have special procedures for us. Also, check if there's a veteran's liaison at SDI you can talk to.

That's great advice, thanks! I'll definitely ask about a veteran's liaison.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! 😤

I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not sitting on hold for 3 hours was totally worth it.

pro tip: call right when they open. youll have a better chance of getting through

This! 💯 Also, avoid calling on Mondays. Always the busiest.

Ive been in the same boat. its frustrating af. Make sure you document EVERYTHING. Every call, every person you talk to. You might need it if you have to appeal.

Have you checked their website? Sometimes you can upload documents directly there instead of waiting on the phone.

I tried, but the system kept giving me an error. That's why I need to talk to someone directly.

Ugh, classic SDI. Their website is always buggy. Guess you're stuck with the phone then. Good luck!
