SDI benefits not received - What's causing the delay and how to fix it?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my SDI claim. I haven't received my benefits yet and I'm not sure why. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel you. The EDD is such a mess rn. Have you tried calling them? That's usually the best way to get answers, but good luck getting through 🙄

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

lol 30 minutes? I've been on hold for HOURS and still nothing. This system is broken af 😤

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to your phone. It costs $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free 🤔

I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get answers. Time is money, ya know?

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there are messages or updates there that explain why payments are delayed.

I've been in the same boat. Turns out there was an issue with my medical certification. Double-check that all your paperwork is in order and that your doctor submitted everything correctly.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into that. How did you find out about the issue with your certification?

I finally got through to someone on the phone after days of trying. They were able to see the problem in their system and explain it to me.

LISTEN UP Y'ALL 📢 Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your online account for any messages or alerts 2. Make sure all your paperwork is submitted and correct 3. Verify your doctor sent in the medical certification 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing them 5. Be persistent! Keep calling and don't give up 6. Consider contacting your local state representative for help 7. Join Facebook groups or forums for more support and tips Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't let them ignore you! 💪

Contacting my state rep actually worked for me. They have staff dedicated to helping with EDD issues.

Preach! 🙌 It's ridiculous how broken this system is. We need to start making some noise about this.

Hey @Savannah, I went through something similar last year. First thing - check if there's a "pending issue" flag on your online account. That's usually what holds things up. Also, try calling the 2511 number (1-800-480-3287) instead of the main line - it's specifically for SDI and sometimes has shorter wait times. If you've been waiting more than 2 weeks past your expected payment date, definitely escalate it. Don't give up! 💪

Thank you so much for the specific number! I had no idea there was a separate SDI line. Going to try calling that tomorrow morning. Did you have to provide any additional documentation when you escalated your case?
