SDI Overpayment Waiver Follow-Up: Can't Reach Department - Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I submitted an application for an overpayment waiver for my SDI benefits, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm trying to follow up on it, but I can't seem to find the right number to call. Does anyone know how to get in touch with the overpayment department? I've been searching online, but no luck so far. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, dealing with SDI overpayment is such a headache! 🤕 I've been there before. Have you tried calling the main SDI number and asking them to transfer you to the overpayment department? Sometimes that works.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I tried that, but I kept getting disconnected or put on hold forever. It's so frustrating!

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

•Can you give more details about how it works? I'm intrigued but cautious.

•Sure! You just enter your phone number on their website, and they call you back when they get an agent on the line. It's pretty simple.

Here's what I know about the overpayment waiver process: 1. After you submit the application, it can take 4-6 weeks for processing. 2. If approved, you'll receive a notice in the mail. 3. If denied, you have the right to appeal within 30 days. 4. Keep all your documentation handy – pay stubs, tax returns, etc. 5. If you're facing financial hardship, mention that in your application. Hope this helps! Hang in there, the bureaucracy is a real pain sometimes.

•Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But seriously, I might give that a shot if nothing else works.

I'm in the same boat, been waiting for a response on my waiver for months now. The anxiety is killing me. Anyone know if there's a way to check the status online?

•Nope, their online system is useless for this. Welcome to government efficiency 🙃

•Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help speed things up.

Word of advice: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every interaction. You never know when you might need that info. I learned the hard way 😓

Has anyone else noticed that the SDI system seems to be getting worse? I swear it used to be easier to get help a few years ago. Budget cuts maybe?

•Totally agree. It's like they're trying to discourage people from claiming benefits. 🤔

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via social media. Sometimes their Twitter team is surprisingly helpful.
