SDI Payment Delays: Weeks Without Benefits, Need Advice!

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I filed for disability benefits a while back and I still haven't received any payments. It's been weeks and I'm starting to get really worried. Has anyone else experienced delays with their SDI payments? Any advice on what I should do next? I've tried calling but can't seem to get through to anyone. This is getting really frustrating and I could use some help!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last month. It took forever to get my first payment. Have you checked your online account to see if there's any updates or messages? Sometimes they need additional info and don't tell you.

Thanks for the tip! I've been checking my account daily but no updates. It just says my claim is processing. So frustrating 😤

Yea, their online system is a joke. Half the time it doesnt even work for me lol

No prob! Hang in there, hopefully you'll see some movement soon. The waiting game is the worst part 😩

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. It actually worked for me! Got through in about an hour. Beats calling all day myself.

Interesting. How does it know when a real person picks up?

Not sure about the tech details, but when I answered, there was a real EDD rep on the line. Saved me hours of frustration!

Here's what I've learned from my experience with SDI delays: 1. Keep calling! It's annoying, but persistence pays off. 2. Check your online account for any pending tasks or messages. 3. Make sure all your paperwork is filled out correctly and submitted. 4. If possible, ask your doctor's office if they've submitted everything on their end. 5. Consider contacting your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help push things along. 6. Document everything! Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 7. If it's been more than 14 days since you filed, you might want to file an appeal. Hope this helps! Hang in there, the system is frustrating but you'll get through it eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try contacting my state rep, hadn't thought of that. Really appreciate the advice 🙏

I'm telling you, the whole system is rigged against us. They probably hope we'll just give up and go back to work. It's a disgrace how they treat people who are already struggling. 😡

Preach! 👏 The bureaucracy is insane. We pay into this system and then have to jump through hoops to get what we're owed.

C'mon guys, it's not a conspiracy. The system is just overloaded and underfunded. Doesn't make it suck any less tho

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when you first filed? Like an email or a letter? Might be worth double-checking that your claim actually went through.

Yea, I got an email confirmation right after I submitted online. And I can see the claim in my account, it just says 'processing' 🤷‍♂️
