SDI payment overdue - no sign of first disability check. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My first state disability payment was supposed to come through today, but I haven't seen anything hit my account yet. It's already past the due date they gave me. Has anyone else experienced delays with their SDI payments recently? I've got a few other questions about the process too, but this is the most pressing issue right now. Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD is notoriously slow with everything. Have you checked your online account to see if there's any updates on your claim status? Sometimes they'll post info there before the money actually shows up.

•Thanks for the tip! I just logged in and there's nothing new showing up. It still says my claim is approved, but no payment info. 😕

•Classic EDD move. They approve you then ghost you for weeks. 🙄 Hang in there, OP!

I had the same issue last month. Turns out there was a "processing delay" on their end. Try calling the SDI hotline - if you can get through, they might be able to give you more info.

•Oof, I've heard horror stories about those phone lines. Did you have to wait on hold forever?

•Honestly, it was a nightmare. Took me 3 days of constant redialing to finally get through. But once I did, they were able to push my payment through within 48 hours.

•Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have a better chance of getting through before the lines get jammed.

Hey, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. •I get the skepticism, but I swear it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. The peace of mind was worth the $20 for me.

•Can confirm, I used it last week and got through in about an hour. Way better than spending all day hitting redial.

Have you checked your mail? Sometimes they send out notices about payment delays or issues with your claim. I know it's old school, but EDD loves their snail mail. 🐌📬

Okay, let me break this down for you based on my experience and what I've learned from dealing with SDI: 1. First, don't panic. Delays are unfortunately common, especially for first payments. 2. Double-check your online account. Make sure all your info is correct and there are no pending tasks or requests for additional information. 3. If you haven't already, try calling the SDI office. Be prepared for long wait times. Best times to call are usually right when they open or just before lunch. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, consider sending a secure message through your online account. It's slower, but they do respond eventually. 5. Check your mail religiously. EDD often sends important notices via snail mail. 6. If it's been more than 14 days since your claim was approved, and you still haven't received payment, you might want to contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help push things along. 7. Document everything. Keep a log of when you call, who you speak to, and what they tell you. 8. Lastly, make sure you've submitted all required forms. Sometimes payments are held up because they're missing a doctor's certification or other paperwork. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but persistence usually pays off.

Have you tried reaching out to them on social media? Sometimes public shaming works wonders 😈

•Careful with that. I've heard they can flag your account if you make too much noise publicly. Might backfire.
